Just what I wanted for a new iPhone. A special “Thank You” to artist ‘Serge Averbukh’ for the addition, at my request, to the design of my Navy rating, the lightening bolts (sparks as they are/were called) in the middle of the CPO insignia. I asked; he came through….When I use my phone, it brings back fond memories of my 20-year Navy career…. Thanks Serge….

As the trees fall bare and trails are obscured with brightly hued leaves, a seasonal autumn forest reveals itself. Autumn's Arrival is a collage and acrylic painting offered by Shadia Derbyshire. the piece was created with a soft acrylic underpainting, that was then collaged with hand torn, and painted, stamped, stenciled or otherwise embellished papers. The piece is finish is a semi gloss top coat with UV protection. the edges are painted with paper wrapping from the face - so no framing is needed.
My most recent work draws more inspiration from color and texture than distinct subject matters, and my objective remains to imbue my canvasses with a sense of emotion. Through the intricate texture and vibrant color in my pieces, I aim to create a visceral response in the viewer; my hope is that the viewer may connect with them emotionally rather than through conscious, deliberate effort. In this way, viewers create their own interpretations through this initial connection, and the narrative of the piece becomes secondary. I was born and raised in Southeastern Michigan.
