Just what I wanted for a new iPhone. A special “Thank You” to artist ‘Serge Averbukh’ for the addition, at my request, to the design of my Navy rating, the lightening bolts (sparks as they are/were called) in the middle of the CPO insignia. I asked; he came through….When I use my phone, it brings back fond memories of my 20-year Navy career…. Thanks Serge….
Abnormal thistle stem. Light micrograph of a normal (top) and abnormal (bottom) stem of the perennial sow thistle (Sonchus arvensis). The abnormal stem has grown in a flattened, or fasciated, manner. This is thought to be due to injury or infection to the stem meristem (the actively growing tissue), which causes a row of proto-stems to form and then fuse together to form the flattened structure seen here.
