Stan’s Long Beach workshop will include demonstrations of a variety of techniques and approaches to the landscape, portrait and florals. Students have the option of working from their own subjects or working from instructor handouts. Students are encouraged to bring at least 5 to 10 photos of subjects they are interested in painting. Instruction will emphasize the basics of watercolor painting: values, color mixing, composition, design, how to create a mood and how to pick a subject, as well as how to incorporate elements of realism, impressionism and abstraction into your paintings. The instructor will individually visit each student and handouts will be available. Be prepared to paint outside for possibly one day, weather permitting.
