From Shore to Shore explores the worlds of the boat builders and the historic locations where boats and ships are built or maintained today. Actual boats will be on exhibit during the show. The show includes six photographs by Fine Art America artist Marianne A. Campolongo.
The opening reception on Thursday January 17, 2013 will feature clam chowder from Legal Seafood and other goodies. RSVP is preferred for the opening - no registration for the balance of the exhibit. Direct link for registration - opening info: http://tinyurl.com/Boats-Pix
The exhibition will fill ArtsWestchester’s Peckham Gallery with graphic panels on the history of boat building in the region, small boats built in the region, profiles of boat yards and master craftsmen, displays of boat-builder’s tools, half models and audio-visual installations. All are invited all to come and explore the world of boat building, and help us preserve these places and practices for future generations.
From Shore to Shore is presented in association with Long Island Traditions (www.longislandtraditions.org) , and has been made possible with support from the National Endowment for the Arts, New York State Council on the Arts, and the New York State Council on the Humanities.
