Don Wesley was painting birds before they became hipster clip art. He uses birds in his work as an expression of our own human condition. For reference, he studies his subjects in real life, day to day. He folds his observation of real avian life in with his own interpretation of our own life. The result is a tasty meal of Americana, the human condition at large, with a nice dollop of zeitgeist.
This show at Toro is the first solo exhibition of Don's work in Bremerton, Washington since he closed his gallery there in 2008. All work being shown is new from his Lower Queen Anne studio in Seattle.
