Photographer and Central Oregon Home Builder Team Up

BEND, OR — MonteVista Homes of Central Oregon is teaming up with local landscape photographer Stuart L. Gordon to bring a unique house-hunting experience to prospective home-buyers in the Bend area.
As part of this summer’s annual Central Oregon Builders Association Tour of Homes, MonteVista Homes will be decorating the walls of select models with landscape images by the Bend-based photographer. The Tour of Homes is scheduled for July 20 through 22 and July 27 through 29.
Gordon, who photographs throughout the western United States and Canada, is working with MonteVista Home’s co-owner and chief interior designer Liz Antonsen and the homebuilder’s Sales/Marketing Director Luke Pickerill to create the blending of photographic art and new home construction.
Liz said she her goal is to create an “inviting environment” that helps home buyers “envision not just the house they are looking at but the welcoming ambiance of a home which they are seeking.”
Many of Gordon’s images that will decorate the models in the home tour are of iconic Central Oregon locations, such as Sparks Lake, Proxy Falls, The Painted Hills, Tumalo Falls, Jefferson Park as well as a wide-range of photographs from his extensive travels throughout California, Utah, British Columbia, and the Pacific Northwest.
“I’m thrilled to have such a great venue for my work to be seen,” Gordon said. “Thousands of people take the Tour of Homes each year. We want their experience in MonteVista’s models to be memorable and stand out from the crowd.”
He added, “Certainly new home-buyers are motivated to find artwork to decorate the walls of their new abode. This makes it very convenient for them to evaluate how a piece of art fits their personality and aerthetic values. The images they’ll see on the walls of the models are of familiar and beautiful regional sites they would absolutely love to have hanging in their homes.”
All of Gordon’s photographs decorating the models are for sale separately and are not included in the price of the home. To see examples of Gordon’s work, visit www.chasingthelight.zenfolio.com.
His archival prints have been exhibited at several juried and non-juried collective and solo shows in his adopted home state of Oregon. He’s been featured in Landscape Photography Magazine, a UK print and online publication, and is a contributor to Getty Images. His images have been published in Capture Central Oregon, a coffee-table book of photographs from regional photographers. One of his images ”McWay Falls in Sunset Light” was selected as a winner in a 2012 landscape photography competition sponsored by Photoshelter, an online image hosting web service. A dozen of his images were recently selected to be showcased in a traveling photography exhibit celebrating the state of Oregon sponsored by Photolucida, a non-profit organization that promotes photography nationwide.
Currently, he’s working on a book entitled Middle Earth: In Search of Extraordinary Landscapes, which will showcase images taken during his travels throughout the Western United States over a five-year period. As the title suggests, the images in this portfolio capture places of wonder and mystery that one might expect to find in one of JRR Tolkien’s fantasies.
