Session 2: On Writing Well

Bob Knight will facilitate four sessions using the material from the book, ‘On Writing Well’ by William Zinsser. The theme for an assignment, in the words of WZ, is, “…the essence of writing is rewriting.”

Please read the Zinsser material prior to each session. Be prepared to enjoy interesting discussion and share various personal insights on the material.

Meeting 1 – 8 November. 6pm – 8pm, 420 Rue Guy
Principles and Methods, Zinsser Parts I and II. Bring in a piece you intend to rewrite for this session’s assignment. It can be prose or poetry.

Meeting 2 – 22 November. 6pm – 8pm, 420 Rue Guy
Forms, Zinsser Part III. Rewritten work will be read and discussed.

Meeting 3 – 6 December. 6pm – 8pm, 420 Rue Guy
Attitudes, Zinsser Part IV. Read and discuss remaining rewritten work. Assignments for publication to the site will be selected.

Meeting 4 – 20 December. Time & venue TBA
Christmas Party – eat, drink, and be merry.

The book may be purchased at the Argo Bookshop, 1915 St. Catherine West, (514) 031-3442. It usually takes a week or less for them to get the book if is not in stock.
