Joshua Tree National Park Art Show and Faire

On December 6, 7 and 8, 2013, Twentynine Palms, CA, will host the first Joshua Tree National Park Art Show & Faire, a three-day celebration of art and music at the historic Oasis of Mara. Festivities include a juried art show with an opening reception, awards, and a weekend art faire with artists’ booths, art demonstrations, cultural displays, park history presentations, youth art activities, live music, food and beverages.

Fifty artists from California, across the nation, and as far away as England, have been selected for the juried art show and will be competing for $6,000 in awards for their artwork inspired by the unique natural beauty and cultural history of Joshua Tree National Park, which has attracted artists and nature lovers from all over the world for more than 75 years. The art show opens at noon on Friday, Dec. 6, at the 29 Palms Art Gallery, with an opening reception set for 5 to 8 p.m.

On Saturday and Sunday, Dec. 7 and 8, all five venues at the Oasis of Mara will host the festivities, from Joshua Tree National Park Headquarters and Oasis Visitor Center on the east end to the 29 Palms Art Gallery, 29 Palms Inn, Old Schoolhouse Museum, and finally the 29 Palms Creative Center & Gallery on the west end of the oasis. Admission is free, and all event venues are within walking distance at the oasis.

The art faire will start with a nature walk at 9 a.m. both Saturday and Sunday, followed by artists’ booths, demonstrations, music and activities from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday and 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Sunday. A festive Art Celebration at the 29 Palms Inn on Saturday night begins at 5 p.m.
