Holiday Cheer at Super Saturday

The Holiday Season is quickly approaching and with it brings our second annual round of Super Saturdays. On select Saturdays through the months of November and December we have invited individual artists to come and bring a larger collection of their work than we typically have in store. It's a great way to meet and greet some of your favorite artists and get the wheels turning for the upcoming holiday season. Many of the artists can even custom make something for you while you are here.

All of the artists will be here from 11-3 on their Saturday.

On November 16th Steve Downs, local woodcarver, furniture builder, and keepsake box maker will be at Studio 33 with a large collection of the various side tables, jewelry boxes, and walking sticks among other things will be here at Studio 33. Everything is unique, custom, one-of-a kind and re-purposed from downed trees and reclaimed from other pieces of furniture. Depending on the complexity of an intended project Steve may be able to complete special order items for the Holiday giving season. Be sure to come in and meet this transplanted Southern gentleman who makes his home on the coasts of Connecticut.

On November 30th, Small Business Saturday, and December 21st Marguerite and Don Langlais, jewelry designers and leather bracelet crafters will be at Studio 33 with their collections of leather bracelets, decoupage earrings, and distinctive jewelry sets. Leather bracelets can be made to order on the spot from a selection of leather styles, colors, charms and closures. Be sure to meet these military veterans on Small Business Saturday and also on the last shopping Saturday before Christmas.

On December 7th, Lori McClain, sea glass artist, miniatures painter and pewter artist will be at Studio 33 with a collection of her sea treasures. Her paintings feature local nautical scenes and landmarks of importance. The pewter castings are all of real sea life and have been transformed into earrings, necklaces, rings and ornaments. The sea glass has been largely locally recovered, turning into earrings, pendants, bracelets and sun catchers. Be sure to bring in some sea glass of your own, or chose a piece from Lori's collection to have wrapped into a pendant or earrings of your own. Born and raised in the area Lori is sure to charm you.

On December 14th, Nancy Harwood, fair trade Kazuri bead artist and hand blown one-of a kind glass and Murano glass artist will be in with her jewelry sourced from villages in Africa, Murano glass from Italy, and locally hand blown glass beads. Having worked in the jewelry industry for many years Nancy's artfully designed collections of interchangeable earrings, bracelets and necklaces began as a hobby to create pieces for herself which has turned into a growing business. Come meet Nancy and hear her stories of travel to the African villages where the handmade fair-trade Kazuri beads are made.
