Figurative Sculpture
This class is a step-by-step demonstration
of the techniques involved in sculpting the
human figure in water-based clay. With
individualized instruction, each student
will create a 15” to 18” undraped figure
sculpture working from a live model.
Students will learn visible anatomy and
proportions, and how to use the shape
and the planes of the body to obtain a
general likeness and also study different
ways of modeling the hands, arms, legs
and feet. Surface finishing techniques
will also be covered. The class will also
cover basic design issues involved in
designing a figure sculpture, as well as
how to prepare it for firing or molding,
and different mounting options. Previous
completion of Portrait Sculpture is recommended.
Price includes the model fee, one bag of clay and the firing fee.
