Boudoir Photography

What is Sexy? Sensual? Boudoir Photography. Captured through the lens of a skilled photographer, Boudoir images reveal the confident, happy and inner tiger of any client. Whether your client is a man or woman, you will be able to achieve successful Boudoir images with what is covered in this workshop. Boudoir Photography can include sexy clothing, lingerie and bathing suit photographs.

Topic to be covered in this Workshop include:
> Flattering poses for Boudoir;
> Lighting for Boudoir;
> Backgrounds that go with certain lingerie/wardrobe colors;
> Props;
> Photographer positioning when shooting, and most importantly;
> How to make the model feel comfortable with next to nothing on

We will have a professional working model for this Workshop. Each photographer will have time to practice the concepts they learned in the Workshop with the model.

Be prepared not only to shoot in a fast-paced environment, but to assist with the subject of the shoot and the lighting setups. This Workshop is for students only and intended to be a creative learning experience for all.

Suggested Prerequisite: Directing and Posing Your Subject in Photography (to be held the same day from 11-2pm – there will be a 30 minute break between workshops.)

Requirements: You must know your Manual Settings! If you do not know your Manual Settings, please email Dawn at dawn@nycdpw.com to set up a Private Instruction Session on Manual Settings. Bring your camera, pen, paper and lots of questions!

Technical Requirements: You must bring your camera and your camera’s USB cord that plugs your camera to your computer as we will tether to a larger computer screen to see and comprehend posing and lighting concepts from results immediately as they are shot. This is a learning experience, so NO exceptions! Bring extra memory cards for back up and at least two fully charged batteries. Pen and paper are necessary for notes.

PLEASE NOTE: While we are just trying to give students the opportunity to use their own cameras, the class is a learning experience for all involved – and ALL students need to be able to view in real time what is being shot so ALL can learn what to tweak in real time. This is to prevent students from batch shooting and then finding preventable mistakes after the fact with the inability to reshoot due to time constraints. If your camera does not sync with the computer via tether, please be prepared to use the studio’s Nikon D300. It is easy to use and has been exclusively used by students for past Workshops. (It works like any other camera – you need only to be shown where to adjust the shutter and aperture.) Regardless of what camera is used, you will receive all images you take in class by a free web zip link in an email – the same day or by next day.
