3-Day Book Arts and Printmaking Workshop with Helen Shafer Garcia at the Fallbrook School of the Arts

This workshop will focus on a unique combination of Collagraph printmaking and book structures. The Collagraph process, as the name suggests, is a form of collage. Printing plates will be produced with Encaustic, a variety of plant forms, and hot glue to create free flowing designs. There are tremendous opportunities to experiment with textures with this unpredictable method. The plate making is very versatile and durable for continued runs through the press, providing enough prints for two or more books. We will be using waterbased inks for easy cleanup. Further development on the images can be produced with mixed media.
