DREAMSHADE

Artist Dawn Derringer - through her new aptly named series called "DREAMSHADE" leaves the mundane world behind.

"I want you, the viewers to suspend reality and transition yourself into fantastical worlds where I can cast a spell upon you and transport you, and bathe you in the realms of enchantment."

Dawn used folklore, faeries, pixies and spirit creatures to guide you into the world of magic.

Dawn used the "biomorphism" movement of the twentieth century to define her work. She takes the isolated subjects of faerie wings and pulls the enormity of nature down with a "scale shift" into the microscopic.

"Idea's swirled in my head at a early age - thoughts of Tinkerbell, Peter Pan and The Lost Boys flitted in my magical memories. The memories persisted. I finally responded by deconstructing the patent and classical icons. I wanted to update the classical illustrations of what we expect a faerie to look like in the modern era."

"I pined for the vibrant exciting clusters of strong shapes and their contradictions. I pined for brilliance, beams of colour, the translucent, the sparkle, the gossamer, the crystalline and the glimpse of the underworld... where images tell secrets."

"So, I magically waved my biomorphic brushes and...POOF!
