Trying New Mediums

I've been away from the computer for a while but, now I'm back. I love to share what I'm doing it's just that by the end of the day I'm pretty tired. No more excuses, I'm just going to manage my time better so I can do all the things I love to do. Just to recap, I think I was working on a series, my goal was to do twelve paintings, but it ended up being seven. It's okay, I can always add more until I reach my goal. I was rushing myself to do the twelve during a crazy, busy time in my life, so now that things have slowed down, I can go back to it and continue to work on other projects too.

I recently started working with gouache, ink, and charcoal which I absolutely love. I was a little intimidated about working with gouache paints at first but once I started I couldn't stop, I was on a roll. I love it cause it doesn't require solvents and I love the color saturation I get from them, they work just like acrylic paints.

I've been having fun with charcoal and love the effects I get when I brush over the strokes with water, also I've been using charcoal to achieve an aged, rustic look to certain areas of the canvas. Black ink is something I've been wanting to work with for sometime now. I purchased a small bottle from a company called "Higgins". It comes with an eyedropper , fun to use. I tried a technique where I fill up the dropper and draw using it in one continuous stroke without stopping. I used that technique with a couple of the gouache paintings I've entered on my FAA website. Take a gander and let me know what you think. Til next time.
