Here is Stage 2 of my watercolor piece titled Tea Time.
All areas that needed to be protected from bleed overs have dried so today I went ahead and filled in background colors. My aim was to lend the appearance that the tea table was outdoors with greenery in the background, but I didn't want that greenery to draw attention away from the core focal point of the painting. So I used this technique to lend a non-specific background using only colors to indicate that it was outside.
The next step will to be to remove the masking from the teapot, then re-mask the border areas I need to protect as they will be painted a separate color altogether.
