Slaving Artist

With so much art out there how does one stand out and get seen? Do I just keep working and know I do this because it brings me joy? You know the whole build-it-and-they-will-come situation. It sometimes is easy to look at the results and feel disappointing but for me it makes it easier if I keep in mind: why do I create?

Do I create because I want people to share in what I do and appreciate it? Or I do it because it stuck inside of me and clawing its way out releases me from it's clutches? When I get low it's nice to keep this in perspective because otherwise it's easy to think the world just isn't like my work. Suck it up you, this is only the beginning of your work. As the saying goes "Rome wasn't built in a day." Keep focused on the work and let the rest take care of itself.
