"Pirate, Merchant and Maiden 1850" . . . A vintage Ukiyo-e triptych showing actors portraying an action scene between a pirate, merchant and maiden. The pirate, Hakata Kojuro, threatens the lovely maiden, Kezori Kuemon, with a large ax. The merchant, Komachiya Soshichi, is about to rescue the maiden. From an original 19th century (1850) woodcut, Hakata Kojoro Kezori Kuemon Komatsuya Soshichi (Three actors in the roles of Hakata Kojoro, Kezori Kuemon, and Komatsu-ya Soshichi), by Utagawa Kuniyoshi.
