Just the other day I came home from a great week away in Qld. Not only did I get to spend time with my brother on a farm in Goondawindi Australia but I also took the opportunity to attend a watercolour workshop on the Goldcoast with world reknown artist Robert Wade. He started every day with a poem or two, reminding us of the importance to connect art with emotion. Where would we be without mentors like this.
In this day and age it is too easy to get caught up with the day to day chores of life. Listening to the poetry often lead to a tear in my eyes as I reflected on my own personal journeys through life. This is what I try to capture on my canvas. Rather than painting from the heart I try to paint from my soul. We can paint as many pictures as we like, but it is when we start connecting them with fellings or emotions that come from deep within our soul that the true art begins. Carpe Diem.
