Heceta Head Lighthouse was constructed in 1892 - 1893 and opened in August of 1893. The lighthouse itself is 56 feet tall and the light is the strongest on the Oregon coast. The lighthouse was placed on the national registry of historic places in 1978. The light keepers residences were used until 1963 when the light was automated.
