Hello everyone,

I am always delighted to keep sharing amusing stories of my artwork. This is a post from January 2015, though. The requirements were that all the entries were to be submitted by Dec. 31st 2014 — and the artists needed feedback and vote by January 15th 2015. Fourteen artists had entered artwork for this challenge which focuses on using REPETITION and PATTERN in their art. They all had to share the meaning of pattern to them, how they use it in their art, and who are their favorite painters using this design element. Here is the link. Please copy paste on your browser:

This is what I wrote:
Meaning of the pattern to me is simply an implementation of a style of painting called “Madhubani” originated in India several centuries ago. The significance of this style of painting one uses free hand single brush strokes in continuation without breaks while maintaining a symmetrical pattern.
In this depiction of two fishes while the physical shapes of the fishes are biologically alike, however within these fishes I have implemented the Madhubani Patterns as described above.
The special challenge in using the technique is using the method of not lifting your brush while completing each pattern and maintaining a symmetry. Also the color choices needed to be such that every detail is distinguishable
Rabindranath Tagore is my favorite Artist.

My Win:
Of the many competitors who participated which was held online and open to anyone, the jury and online voters selected one of my work and on January 2015 I was announced winner by http://artgroupsdfw.com/. I won by amazing 4.43K votes

“The purpose of Art News DFW is to foster creativity through visual art nonprofit organizations that support working artists. For visual artists in the North Texas area devoted to news of art events hosted by visual art groups and artists in the North Texas area”
