April 2014 Newsletter

Igel Art & Cheeky Joe’s Newsletter #1

April, 2014

Hello,

This first newsletter will be both an outlook for the month and for the year ahead. I’ve recently decided to get back into the business of art and graphic design and thought it would be helpful for patrons new and old to have some idea of what to expect. So, here goes.

For the year ahead for the Cheeky Joe’s line of products I intend to have more of a focus on specific fields of study, professions, and hobbies, along with general quips about this and that. Ideas that I have now cover Police and Tickets; the definitions of “Politician” and “Cat Lady”; funny lines about/for Psychology, English, Art History, Math, and Physics Majors; new slogans for the Cable News Networks; another swipe at Democrats and Republicans; what could drive someone to being a meth addict; a shirt for toddlers; Weed; Goldman Sachs; Häagen-Dazs; Birthday and Easter cards.

For the year ahead for the Fine Art/Watercolor projects: a dawn sky; possible landscapes; misty/foggy sunrises; at least one night/moon sky; some works capturing motion in nature. For more commercial/merchandise products: a fine art, watercolor Christmas card of a Christmas tree aglow with multicolored lights; Christmas card of a cherub pointing the Wise Men in the right direction; fine art Birthday, Anniversary, Thank You, Halloween, Thanksgiving, Valentine’s, St. Pat’s, and Easter cards; digital downloads at my Etsy site for various works (can be useful for business cards); designs for Christmas Ornaments (at Cafepress.com/willsart)and one for a Yoga Mat; sleepytime designs for the little ones.

The above is an ambitious outline of what I would like to accomplish. Realistically, probably half of this list will actually get done within the year. But, I wanted to get down the ideas I’ve had floating around in my head and give a general direction of where my energies will be focused. Currently, I have retail sites at www.cafepress.com/willsart; www.cafepress.com/cheekyjoes; http://www.redbubble.com/people/igelart77; http://fineartamerica.com/art/all/william+igel/all; http://www.etsy.com/shop/IgelArtWatercolors . Cafepress has a wide variety of products including prints, mugs, t-shirts, etc. Redbubble has a bit less variety, mostly t-shirts, hoodies, and prints. Fine Art America is only prints (and I only have 11 works there at this time). If looking for prints or stationary of some type then in comes down to size and shipping costs (based on your location) which of these three sites will give you the best deal. However, at the Etsy shop, I will by-and-by make many of the works available as digital downloads – this way it comes down to your needs, printer capabilities, and best price for you. As always, some originals are for sale, and if there’s anything specific you would like to see, let me know. I will also try to have little weekly updates on the Facebook page, which is also the best way to reach me (via the email there).

FOR THE MONTH AHEAD:
Really, until at least June, I will probably only get to offering digital downloads of past works on the Etsy site. Starting in June, I’ll begin work on the Christmas cards and Cheeky Joe’s items.

So, until next month, thanks for reading this grammatically iffy mess.

Take care,
Will Igel
