An inspiration of light, shade and vibrant colour

This painting was inspired by the play of light and shadow, and the vibrant red of the poinsettia on my window sill. It took me nearly a month to complete and every step and stroke of colour was a joy. The painting changed so dramatically from initial colour washes to final detailed brush marks.

As pictures speak louder than words, and pictures are the essence of what I do, I took the painting to networking meeting. I was so amazed to be contacted within two days by someone wanting to buy this lovely picture. I hope she gets as much pleasure from the finished painting as I did from painting it.
