Day Three
This copy of an O'Keefe was done in class back in 2010. It is not for sale because it is a copy of a famous work. Now it brightens up a wall in our home.
When choosing one to copy it is wise to select art that you admire. Georgia O'Keefe was, and is, one of my favorite Artists.
Copying paintings is a great way to learn how create different looks, in this case it was learning to blend. Stepping back frequently when painting is another technique we were taught. Comparing your work to the original requires taking time to examine each area for accuracy. Squinting is also useful for many artists. When possible, it is also useful to make a good copy to work from. A print 8 1/2 x 11 is not expensive and is a good size to work from. Smaller prints are inadequate.
