Welcome to the Fine Art America artist tour! Our artist accounts are designed to help fine artists promote their talents and their artwork to a national audience of fine art collectors.
To get started as an artist on our site, the first step is to register online. Registration is a simple process which takes less than five minutes to complete. Once you register, our website will create an "artist profile" page for you at:
firstname-lastname.fineartamerica.com
Your profile page is a real .html page which is yours to design and to keep as long as you are a member. Your profile page can display your photo / headshot, your biography, your artwork, your art galleries, and coming soon... your weblog. A sample profile page is shown to the right.
Designing your profile page is a snap using our simple "artist control panel". When you register, you will receive a username and password which will allow you to login to your control panel and get started. Using your control panel, you can:
upload your photo / headshot
post your artist biography
post your artwork - complete with pictures, descriptions, keywords, and sizes
post your upcoming appearances / events - complete with pictures, descriptions, dates, and locations
issue online press releases
post job openings in the fine art industry
receive automatic e-mail notifications whenever a fine art collector posts a question pertaining to your area(s) of expertise
and more!
Everything that you post will be included on your profile page AND in our comprehensive online directories - your artwork will appear in our artwork directory, your artist profile will appear in our artist directory, your events will appear on our upcoming events page, and more! In addition, everything that you post will be fully searchable using our unique search engine. Finally, each of your postings will each appear on its own unique .html page. For instance, if you post a painting named 'Grapes on a Vine', our website will automatically create a beautiful page for that painting and name it:
www.fineartamerica.com/artwork/grapes-on-a-vine.html.
This is done for two important reasons:
1.
It makes it easy for you to e-mail your postings to friends and colleagues. Simply copy and paste the name of the page.
2.
It makes your posting search-engine friendly (e.g. Google, Yahoo, MSN).
Fine Art America is dedicated to helping fine artists gain exposure to a national audience. Our website includes several unique features which are designed to prominently feature your artwork, your profile, and your events.
Automatic Location Detection
When an art collector visits FineArtAmerica.com, our site automatically detects the collector's location within the United States / Canada and displays content that is specific to that location. For instance, our site has identified your location as being near Los Angeles, CA. Our location algorithm is approximately 95% accurate. If our site does not correctly identify a collector's location, the collector can easily change their location by clicking on change location at the top of any page.
Location detection is vital to displaying appropriate content to our visitors. An art collector that lives in Chicago, for instance, has no interest in reading about upcoming artist appearances and gallery events that will take place in Los Angeles. As a result, if you view our upcoming events page, you will see that the events are automatically sorted by distance. A Chicago visitor, by default, would be shown events that are taking place near Chicago, just like you would be shown events that are near Los Angeles. This greatly increases the exposure of local events to a local audience and ensures that events do not get lost amidst a long list of nationwide events.
Location detection also allows us to prominently feature local artists on our main page. If a visitor lives within 250 miles of a registered artist, the artist's profile will be prominently displayed in the 'local artist' section on the visitor's main page.
Bi-Monthly Newsletter
On the 1st and 15th of every month, we e-mail a unique newsletter to all of our registered fine art collectors. The newsletter features artists, artwork, jobs, press releases, and events that have been posted on our site during the previous two weeks. This is a great way to introduce your newest releases and upcoming events to an interested audience. Each collector receives a unique newsletter which prominently features events that will be occuring in their area.
As a registered artist, you have complete control over all of your content on our website. Everything is controlled via your 'artist control' panel. A portion of the control panel is shown, below. If you want to add your newest release, for instance, simply click on 'My Artwork' and add it! The control panel will then walk you through uploading a picture of the artwork, describing the artwork, and listing the available sizes. You absolutely do NOT need to be a web programmer. If you can type on a keyboard and use a mouse... you can use the control panel to create beautiful pages!
In addition to controlling your online content, your control panel allows you to view and respond to questions that have been posted by art collectors from around the world. If you see a question that pertains to your artwork or your area(s) of expertise, feel free to contact the art collector and introduce yourself. You can configure your control panel to have it automatically e-mail you questions as they arrive, if desired.
