An image of this painting will soon be gracing the labels of specialist Italian bakery products in Sydney, Australia. Special thanks to FAA and Google's search engine! When the business owner searched "Ancient Mills", my painting came up on the first page and grabbed his attention.
Hey, this thread is working again - great!
Barbara, hi and thanks very much for the congrats!
Beth, yes we've come to a mutually acceptable arrangement. Advice from the forum is very much appreciated!
Haha, Joshua - not that kind of bread - lol!
Wow Therese how proud you must be. I remember the excitement I felt when The committee for Camp Creative (summer school for the arts in Bellingen NSW) asked if the could put my painting on the cover of their brochure which went Australia wide as well as their web page for 2010.
We have so much awesomeness going on... A couple weeks ago, we were awarded "Best in Show" at DigiTech 2012 in Tallahassee, FL. We've also been nominated as "Best Illustrator" of 2011 by the Steampunk Chronicle and we'll find out on Tuesday if we won!
(Our display at DigiTech 2012)
We've also just gotten confirmation about a few more shows accepting our work, bringing our show total over 30. ^_^
Plus the two parts of MANDEM (Moco & Maize) are celebrating our 15th anniversary on May 1st!
Yesterday, I learned that I received a grant from the local arts council (Kamloops Arts Council). I am very excited as it will be used towards purchasing art supply kits for local children that are part of a charity that I am working with. We are planning to exhibit some of the pieces the children create with these kits in their own group show next year. Waiting to hear back from the two art supply companies I put donation requests into for this project as well; fingers crossed. This will be so much fun; can't wait to see what the kids come up with and to view their show :)
I got this painting accepted into the 72 Northwest Watercolor Society International Show that will be held in the Seattle Design Center in Seattle, Washington. A difficult show to get into. I was one of 80 accepted out of 400 entries.
my granddaughter has an abstract artist as artist in residence at her school this week. he kicked off the week with a slide presentation of 'famous' abstract artists.
one of my paintings was in the group and he announced my name.
so that's not the good news..the good news is that my sweetheart munchkin announced that i was her gramma!

I entered this painting recently in the Inaugural Toowoomba Japanese Group Arts & Culture Competition and won 1st prize in the General Public Section! Prizes included a wonderful evening at an upmarket restaurant with reps from the Toowoomba Regional Council and our Japanese Sister City, as well as an engraved medal, certificate and gift voucher to a local art supplies store. I was absolutely thrilled to receive this honour.
My good news: .... I woke up this morning alive and reasonably well. I have good family and friends. My FAA family are wonderful people, and to know I have friends all over the world by means of this cyber technology, never ceases to amaze me.
Beth Edwards, I appreciate you and hope you are doing well. ; )
Don't laugh, I'm excited about the upcoming install of a much needed much higher speed internet at my house! woohoo! hmmm, the anticipation of a newborn...the anticipation of high speed internet.....hmmm, lol.
I am on pace to triple sales year over year from last year to this year so far. Finding some niche ways to market, and so far my plan to carve out a little more time from our portrait and wedding business to focus more on the art photography is working. I have also booked 4 regional art walks, and am going to try to show my work at a trade show or two. My good news is that steady high quality work is starting to produce returns for me.
I may not have sold anything on FAA as of yet,...but I received an interesting email,
that the accompanying photo will be featured in "Down East" magazine's summer issue.
A wonderful thrill for this photographer since the majority of my work focuses on the Down East Maine experience.
I've been working for two years on a self assignment at this location (Quoddy Head State Park) to improve my photographic seeing and vision.
The majority of my FAA portfolio reflects some my efforts.
Am honestly humbled having one of my images recognized.
Yesterday I attended the reception for the first exhibit in which I was a participant. Two of my prints were chosen for the exhibit and one sold before the reception was over. I also learned yesterday that I will be a participant in an upcoming exhibit starting next month at a Chattanooga, TN gallery
I am thrilled to share that my photograph was featured in the special collector's edition of Canadian Geographic magazine's Wicked Weather: 100 Best Weather Photos of 2013! I got my copy in the mail today - page 76 if you are able to pick up a copy at a Canadian book store, drug store or newstand. Ramona
Good news update:I recently won an honourable mention for my newest line of fibre art- in a juried art show. I have been asked to facilitate a speaking engagement for a gang of PHD's and demos and art workshops and art therapy workshops at a conference. I have a permanent part time job at a hospital as a art therapist. This is all GOOD news and I am so grateful.
