Print Size Calculation Question

Hi

I was wondering how to calculate maximal print lenght upon image resolution ?

For example, I just uploaded an image 13100 x 9510 file and the longer side of the print was 60". Than i took the same image and cropped it leaving the same longer side length (made it a bit more narrow)
The new image was 13100 X 8768 and now the maximal print size increased from 60" to 72" on the longer side.

Im a bit confused that shrinking the shorter side of the image enlarges the longer side of the print on same pixel count , and that a narrow panorama will give you way longer print than square shaped image of exactly same length.

This just got me a bit curious because some logic tells me that in that case print longer side length shouldn't change, but as I have limited printing knowledge its more than possible that Im missing something.

Any thought is more than welcomed :)

Also, is there a print size table which calculates print size based on both parameters or something similar available ?

Thanks

Our largest prints are 108" x 48"

The sizes depend on your pixels. Unlike other sites we never crop or skew images to fit standard sizes, instead allowing the artist free scope to just upload what they have

The only limits we have are that one of your dimensions is going to be forced to fit the following list:

8"
10"
12"
14"
16"
20"
24"
32"
36"
48"

The other dimension will be scaled proportionally to maintain the aspect ratio of your image.

I hope that helps

The reason it will print longer with the smaller file is because FAA keeps the crop as you upload it and the wide side can't exceed 48 inches. By making it more narrow it no longer exceeded the maximum width on the small side thus allowing the longer overall printing.

JC answered it. Never mind!

They use a roll printer. To get out the biggest possible print the width of the printer is used for the small side. The long side is (theoretically) only limited by the roll length.
When You combine this with Abbies list You get this results:
48" * 13100 / 9510 = 66.1" The next smaller on Abbies list is 60".
48" * 13100 / 8768 = 71.7" I don't know if the width of the printer is a little more than 48" or they cut 25 of Your pixels (with 8733 You get 72").
