Roses are considered one of the most beautiful flowers in the world. I love roses, very sweet smelling flowers and lovely to look at. I keep adding new varieties to my garden every Spring. This Spring, I will be adding deep pink, red and white miniature roses. I love using flowers from my garden in my paintings.

On Friday nights in Asheville, the rhythmic beating of drum almost sounds like the pounding of a steam engine. Add a few rusty cogs and some steam to a drum set and you have a steam-driven drum circle. It doesn't get better than Friday in Asheville.

Yes, I know, I am nowhere near the talent of Mike Savad, but I had to give it a shot. It was fun... for once.

This Black Drongo sat quietly on the tree. Waited for action and heard a low and melodious sound not the usual note, so presumed it was a female. The male and female look similar. These birds have a capability to make several sounds. When they fly they are so quick and dive with force, its feathers are not clearly seen. But while she sat one of her wings suddenly flung open and she started preening. Her tail swung open too and moved upward. The movement of the tail was supple when it opened upward and moved downward. Her feathers were glossy.
Winter seems to be their favorite season.

Every choice we make, every course of action we take informs the outcome and any consequences it entails. Looking back, it's often easy to see how a choice we made lead us down a different path and where that path lead us. Our eventual outcome will be the sum of the choices we've made and the sum of the narratives we have chosen to believe as truth.


February 2016 has been a productive and prolific month for me. ;-)

Deep in a dark, mysterious forest reside a bear, a squirrel, and a raccoon. Hidden in the tree is a lantern and somewhere a pair of eyes stare out. Beware the spiderweb... don't be trapped! This fun B&W piece would make a good card or poster.

For kids of all ages and fantasy fans, here is an image in which are hidden many things. Look for a ladder, a unicorn, an elf, a vulture, a woodpecker, a troll, dandelion seeds, bubbles, and ... well, enjoy the search. A great piece of art for a card, a poster, or to hang where people will see and search for themselves!
