Note released in Aug 2015 the video has barely over 7500 views.

My stomach is turning.

Only able to watch a bit of it so far, interesting however.

It is very interesting. Quite the set of comments from all parties.

I want to delve into color. That is why I am looking at this. I can not truly get a reflection from a print like he gets from a metal statue. But I can go stronger, brighter and louder in other words.

I have me some ideas.

Vanity Fair had indepth article on him a while back. Can't say he is my cup of tea.

He is a used car salesman with a lot of spit polish. I agree Ed.

But that and a dime wont buy me a cup of coffee.

This is the first I've ever heard of Jeff Koons. I'll check out the video later. Why is your stomach turning? Is that your YouTube channel?

Robert Frank Gabriel

This is funny. Why? Because just today I posted a youtube clip on my facebook group concerning Mr. Koons....I am happy for most any successful artist including Mr. Koons.

"Spinach is the art" - Jeff Koons

Just a few days ago I was convinced that potatos were art.

I cannot think of a thing I want to know about Jeff Koons - and I don't want to ask - seems I remember something from the College of Fine Arts when I was working on my BFA - ....

I have been edging in this direction for a while, so I looked up this video. My stomach is turning because of how Koons portrays himself. His artistic constructs are not a problem for me.

So without further ado.......

Something creepy about that guy.

Dead Beat Dad....Koon's ex filed suit against him for non-payment of child support

Ed, Danl,

I have seen bits and pieces of documentaries on Koons, but in each one the report/show gives strong opinions on one or other of his periods. This is the first hour I have seen where the whole of his body of work is discussed with the people who were involved all the way through, the critics, the artists, the gallery owners, and the attitudes of the buyers if not the actual buyers.

The person even looks worse in this than any other show I have seen on him. His warts are all over this.

But his art is constantly evolving and improving. There is no taking that away from him. Somehow people expect him to never reinvent himself and yet he does.

I only watched the first couple minutes and just had to laugh. The way they were talking about Popeye was pretty darned funny. lol That was all I could take of that gobbledygook.

DK,

The beginning is very funny. If you watch the whole thing you get the artists full body of work not just the sensational stuff.

Too bad he didn't keep his personal fantasies of being a porn star to himself. The early video tape showing him talking to David Byrne about "how alive" he felt at strip shows was great foreshadowing for his future work.

I also enjoyed how Damien Hirst thinks everything is about death. Show the guy a cute puppy and he'll say its all about death. Maybe its the obsession with the idea of creating something will live on forever after they are gone. But at some point there won't be any more room to store these fish tanks and large balloon animals.

I have heard abysmal stories about the man from artists and others who worked for him. I love his work, but think he's a trainwreck of a human being.

This is about how insidious politics can be. The inner circle v the outer circle.

So this thread is actually about David?

David Bridburg

Ed,

It is about Contemporary art, Koons and how I am beginning to make contemporary artwork.

Take your pick. Is there something wrong with that?

Just be up front about it. Maybe change the subject line to "Everything You Wanted To Know About David Bridburg, But Were Afraid To Ask."

Listen to yourselves, looking for ways to invalidate a super successful artist. You may not like his work or him but he is successful and made it to the top- which is more than most on this web site have done. Ask yourself this, If you worked at your art and marketed yourselves to the point where you were famous, would you want others in the art community, (famous or not) trying to defame you and find fault with your personality or your work? :-(

I congratulate him and his success as a fine artist. Achieving this level of success and following his vision faithfully to the top, is a HUGE accomplishment. IMO

@Arthur Fix, Koons is a controversial figure. It is Koons' norm.

I have to wonder. Do I have to like every movie that is released because it makes money?

Is my free will co-oped by rich collectors so that I can't have an option on art? I have to accept the Kardasians as amazing individuals of the highest regard because they are so successful at displaying their butts in public?

I hate to change the subject, but I just visited the new, free, Broad (sounds like road) Art Museum in downtown LA. (Los Angeles, not the state.)

They have many of Jeff Koons works to see, walk under, gaze at and laugh at.

A great, new venue, and a place you will want to include on your next journey to Tinsel Town.

Ed,

I agree. Koons' art falls in on itself as statues with no real purpose. Overblown kitsch. Still he takes contemporary art by the horns like no one else.
Koons was very lucky that his strangeness worked out. Most creeps in this world dont get ahead. The images of his earliest NY apartment from the OP bring me to that conclusion.

As for Kim's arse......I have no TV, which might be the start you need in life.

David - it broke the Internet so there is no avoiding certain people's rear ends. Doesn't mean it deserves respect.

Ed,

Butt she is richer than Koons. Think about it. And worship.
