So sad to read the news of Glenn Frey's passing. What a talent!

I finally saw the Eagles in 2008. It was probably in the top 3, if not the best, concert I've ever seen. A truly talented group.

One of the brightest lights I've ever had the pleasure of seeing went out today. Very sad.

Roseann, I saw the Eagles too when they reunited for the Hell Freezes Over Tour back in the 90s. Expensive, but well worth every penny I spent for those tickets. It's a memory I will treasure.

I've seen Henley alone too.

This news makes me sad. I will always love their music.

Does anyone remember Glenn when he was on the TV show, "Wiseguy"?

@Janice - our tickets were pricey, too. But we also felt it was well worth the money spent. Does make me wish I had seen them sooner. A very treasured memory.

I didn't watch Wiseguy but I do remember him on Miami Vice.

It is sad as I was hoping they were going to make another CD. I thought when Frey was feeling better they were going to tour again, too.

I haven't seen any of them do solo shows.

I think I'll be listening to Long Road out of Eden tonight.

R.I.P while your music live on in our hearts and minds.

That's truely sad news, and he'll be missed. I wasn't aware of the health issues he's been dealing with. I do remember his appearances on Miami Vice.

Roseann, saw Joe Walsh in concert too. He was phenomenal.

I am ripping all their CDs into my hard drive.

Thanks Glenn Frey and a Tequila Sunrise to you.
I drank a few back in the day inspired by the song.

@Nola - very true. We will hold that music within us and it will always be there.

@Greg - From what some of the articles are hinting at, some of this is a result of the excess of partying in his younger days.

@Janice - I have a friend who lives in San Diego. She's seen Joe Walsh out and about.

@JL - it's hard enough this time of the year to not be depressed. The deaths of some our more notable artists, one after the other certainly doesn't help. You're right, it does suck.

@Joann - deeply sad. I'm still trying to process it.

@Jim - I like the use of color for this. FYI - Glenn's name has to Ns. :-)

Thanks Roseann, I added the extra N.
Sadly as the boomer Rockers enter their seventies or are already there this will accelerate.
The music will live on but this special era in time will be gone with them. I guess I'm there too though ???!!!

My band hosts a jam on Monday night and we back a lot of the jammers. Best introduction of the night: "I'd like to do 'Already Gone' for Glen Frey who's, um, already gone."

Dave - Yes, he was. Very sad news.

Dan - well, I've been known to appreciate dark humor. Which that intro was a bit of. Does your band play a lot of the Eagles songs?

I saw The Eagles at the end of this past summer, during their last few shows of a 2-year tour. A lot was made of the high price of tickets as many folks probably saw them when tickets were $20 not $200. I doubt any of those people are complaining now...RIP Glenn.

In 1999 late December we were moving to San Diego and I was driving with my son. As we approached Winslow, AZ on the interstate I was explaining the Eagles hit to him. I decided to get off and drive through, as we hit the main drag of Winslow, Standing On The Corner came on the radio. A magic moment we both remember to this day.

Kevin that brought back a memory of seeing an article about a sculpture in Winslow a while back.

We use to drive the old route 66 from California to Oklahoma when I was a kid and going through Winslow.

@Peter - I know that I am not. The ticket, to me, was worth the show we saw and had they come here again, we would have gone again this year.

@Kevin & Jim - Yep, they have a tribute statue there. http://www.steelcactus.com/WINSLOWSTAND.html

Very sad news. I saw the Eagles several times when they played over here in England, always a fantastic show.

As well as Eagles recordings he also did some great solo stuff, some of which I seem to remember was used in the 80s TV series Miami Vice.

Have a listen to "You Belong To The City" or "I've Got Mine", brilliant.

@David - I would have loved to see them one more time. We were watching their schedule for this summer.

@Terry - Indeed.

Roseann, me to, I would have loved to have seen them again.

To quote from Hotel California slightly amended, Glenn may have checked out but he will never leave us. Not while we still have such brilliant music to listen to.
