Usa National Parks And More Announces Our First Contest Of 2016

Our first contest of the year. I'll make it simple! Winter photographs of any public land in the United States. National Parks, Monuments, Historical Sites, Forests, as well as areas designated by state or local governments as land for public use are fair game in this contest. Here are the guidelines:

1. One image per member. If you aren't a member then join us.
2. Only images of public lands in the United States...see above introduction.
3. No images with people unless the people are incidental to the landscape.
4. PHOTOGRAPHS ONLY! Photo manipulation is okay so long as the result still has the full appearance of originating as a photograph.

When voting begins, you may vote for no more than 6 images. You must be a member of Pixels / Fine Art America for more than 30 days to be able to vote.

This is a quick contest. Submissions are open for just 5 days and voting for only 3 days. In case of ties for first place, all will be featured.

I am not an American so excuse my ignorance, but what ever happened with the Hovernmemts intention to charge photographers the right of use of public land, particularly National Parks?

On a cheeky note, does this include land occupied for militia?

As far as I know the only fees charged for the use of public lands in the US are the entry fees charged at some but not all national parks. Other than that, I know of no other restrictions placed on photographers.

On the possibility of photographing on land occupied by self-proclaimed militia groups I can see no reason not to photograph around them if you are wearing your kevlar vest. Otherwise, I think I'd take a pass.

Everything you need to know about public land.

No to worry Justin, you come to America and shot all you want. If you run into any militia groups just tell them Floyd Snyder and Louis Freeh said you were okay. But that kevlar vest idea may still be a good one.

Haha, kevlar vest noted.

Ive been to the States before and loved it. Saw Yosemite and the Grand Canyon as well as Vegas and San Fran. There is some of the most beautiful and wide ranging landscapes in North America, it really is breath taking and I can't wait to get back there.

I am hoping to get to the East Coast in the coming 2 years.

Thanks for the NP info. Wish I had some UD NP shots to contribute

I'm taking note of the contests for the future. I actually volunteer for Ohio's national park, but I don't have any good photos that fit the contests yet. I'm gonna work on that this year.
