Started Using Buffer To Schedule Tweets And Sm

I finally signed up for Buffer to schedule tweets and to SM. I must say that it is quicker than Tweetdeck. Infact, I created a template sheet in a Word Doc that has the link to FAA and tags already to go. Then I just cut and paste the tweet. The image is linked already and comes up in bedded in the tweet. With Tweet deck doing the same thing I would paste the same link then find the image in my catalogue.It didnt take a huge amount of time , but buffer cut time by 75-80%. Thats alot when your doing this SM stuff. Thanks to those that suggested it. Just trying to pay it forward today!

Thanks for reporting, Jon. Did you sign up with the free or paid service? If the latter, which one?

i just signed up the the individual membship of 10 per months,,will try it out for a few weeks. Not really crazy about the pinterest app cause it involves a url,,but will experiment.

Please report here over the weeks. SM may not show over weeks, but also consider reporting your ongoing perceptions of operational functionality of the service. Thanks.

Another thing to note with Buffer, once you have created and sent a range of posts you can go to the analytic tab and select posts to be re-sent at a later date - that is a big time saver

Paul,, I did not know that,,great feature,, with tweet deck I had to copy and paste over and over and over.

@Paul
"once you have created and sent a range of posts you can go to the analytic tab and select posts to be re-sent at a later date"

I'll have to take a closer look. Apparently you're talking about another feature. This chart says social analytics is available only starting with the $50 per month acccounts.

Note that if you are using Wordpress there is a Buffer plugiin for it.

@Dan, certain analytics are available in the free version, you have to pay for the more detailed analytics - I'm only using the free version at the moment but may upgrade to the "awesome" version for $10/month, that will give me the ability to add up to 100 messages in the schedule

Awsome to hear....Ive been using it now for weeks and when i had a glitch or two I emailed customer support. FYI - I have never, ever gotten better support than these guys..first names, the guys take ownership of the case, they followed up a few days later to see how it was going...they even asked me to send a test post when they were upgrading something...these guys are awesome!

@Newwman,

Free or premium account?

I must say that it is very easy to retweet. A few bugs when trying to upload images, only if they are not automatically downloaded. I think it has to do with refreshing. But most important, is that even if I only tweet, it is saving me a ton of time...I set up ten tweets in about 10 min as opposed to 20 min on tweet deck. And when Im ready, I can just retweet and that will take less than 10 sec per tweet to set up...

@Jon - I agree, I tend to use it just for twitter at the moment but might start on Facebook and G+ before long - seriously thinking about upgrading to the "awesome" plan to allow up to 100 tweets in the buffer that will enable me to add about a weeks worth in one go.
I haven't noticed the bug your referring to, is that when you're uploading from your computer - I just drag and drop into the box and it all works well

paul- I upgraded to that awesome plan,,only on day 2 but everything is good so far..I will give it a few days before I start retweeting they content..

Refreshing the website was all that was needed to fix the bug

I'm wondering how everybody is using it:

Do you schedule SM posts about blog articles from the app or...
using the browser plugin?

Do you upload photos only to the app...
or link back to an AW page with your newly uploaded work?

etc., etc.

I am on Hoote Suite which I assume is similar,,,I am only on three SM sites, I cannot add Google+ on Hoote because I only have the personal profile,,,not the page, Are any of you able to add the google+ personal profile to buffer on the free edition? If so I may get buffer,,,)

Signed up, going to give it a try for twitter and linkedin. Really easy to set up, I had no problems with images. I only scheduled one tweet a day, to keep from being too redundant. I have 7 set up now, and will a couple every day to keep the queue fresh.

I've created promotional images of things like shower curtains and duvets, so I'll pair those with a link to the product(s) on my artist page. I'm planning to alternate between just sharing images, or my website, or freebie things like facebook banner downloads, and promoting specific products for sale.

Judy,

No, G+ configuration also requires a page on Buffer - no personal profile (only) as far as I can see. You can apparently add G+ to the free edition, but again... requires a page.

Cynthia, I understand about redundant posts. However, when using the Auto Configure of Buffer, it may indicate 3, 4, or even 5 posts. Is it possible their algorithm knows more that we?

I am tweeting 10 per day. I let it pick the optimum times to tweet based upon 10 per day. Going to check out hoote suite

Cynthia Decker

I may well be under-utilizing the service. I don't know about auto configure, I just thought I'd mix it up a little.

Dan Carmichael

Jon,

I let it pick the time, but modify them in some situations. Case in point: Auto Configure indicated 5 posts for twitter. One set of posts was something like 12:37 PM and another at 1:03 PM. In a case like that, I may remove one... those posts are just too close together.

Thanks Dan, I don't see a advantage of opening a buffer account then! Hoots lets me schedule five auto images to three different SM daily,

My tweets were optimized at peak times during the day by their analytics. I don't want to tweet at dead times. Right? And if they are close together, that means I need to tweet more. Also , you don't know what you don't know, meaning, I don't think people are on it all the time. It's all about timing anyway right. No right no wrong answer.

I looked hoote suite, but it was not a right fit for me.

Its been about a week and so far so good..Like I stated earlier in this thread, Really easy peasy to post to twitter,, And to Re-post tweets. I cut and paste URL from by artist page and the image shows up,,I click on that, then tap away and a new message or cut and paste from a spreadsheet of messages i created. I like the basic stats I get from it. Going to try it for about 3-4 months and see the results. At $9 a month, I can handle it....

Yes I've also been hammering twitter over the last few days using Buffer, definitely made 3 sales through it, 1 on here and 2 on a gift site.
I've also given hootsuite a go but when I paste a link into hootsuite it doesn't automatically load an image as buffer does so it make it less convenient to use, but does have the advantage of being able upload to Instagram.
A bit undecide between the two at the moment

Cynthia Decker

I have it all dialed in for now. It's connected to all my social media, and I've made up about 20 new promotional images and infomation to go out. I figure if I add a couple new posts a day, I'll be covered.

I like the format and the ease of use so much I upgraded to the paid plan. I'm set up with FB, Twitter, Google+, Linkedin, and Pinterest. It's really nice to be able to plan and schedule posts, and I still go post random things on my own as well.

I'm not flooding it though. The most I'm hitting any one point is once a day. Most I'm doing 3-5 times a week.

Thanks for the heads up about this, Jon!
