Anyone Know How To Use The Blank Space When Pictures Are Removed Along Right Side?

I've read through some of the posts here on using the FAA email campaigns, looking for an answer to this specific question. Here's a more detailed description of what I am doing followed by my question.

I've also included a screenshot of my Christmas of my email campaign. It has NO right-side pictures and shows the problem with the blank space. It also shows some of the ways I've used HTML and Flickr to include pictures, colored text, my website address, etc.

HERE'S WHAT I AM DOING:
* I use HTML for simple things like text colors, sizes, etc. It works nicely and, though I don't really know HTML, there are lots of sites that give you instruction.

* I also use HTML to put my artistwebsites cover photo at the top of each email, so the appearance of my emails tie in with the appearance of my website. I did this by creating the cover photo with text overlay in GIMP, posting the finished photo on Flickr, then using the Flickr "Sharing" feature (which gives you an HTML code for the picture) to post it at the top of my email.

* When I want to post a picture that is NOT from FAA, I first post it to my Flickr account, then use the "Sharing" feature on Flickr as described above to put it in my email campaign.

* I, too, hate that FAA forces us to include the FAA link at the bottom and top of the email, but I hope I override the impact of this by posting my artistwebsites address in LARGER text immediately at the top of my email and right after my sign-off.

HERE'S MY QUESTION:
I know I can hide the four pictures along the right side by choosing "No Image" in the selector for each picture. However, I cannot figure out how to FILL that empty space in my emails. Without the pictures, there is just a big, empty area all along the right side of the email. Does anyone know how to fill that space?

The interesting thing is that if you look at the example email campaign letter FAA puts at the top of the Email Campaign creation page, that example has NO right-side pictures and NO empty right-side space.

If there are those out there who, like me, aren't HTML experts, here's the HTML I use to post my artistwebsites address at the top and bottom of my emails:

Susan, I didn't know you can remove the pictures, how did you do that?

Floyd,
There's a drop-down list with each picture where you can choose which pictures you want there. The very first option in the drop-down list is "No Image." Just choose that for each of the four pictures and they won't be included in your email. :) But the, of course, you have that empty space I'm asking how to solve...

Oh, and hmmmm, the actual HTML didn't show up in my example of how to include your website address. I know there's a way to tell it to NOT implement the HTML, but to just leave it as text, but I can't remember what it is. Let me try this:

No image means, no image basically That will leave a space where an image should be

Isabella,
Yeah, I get that, but as I said above, the example email campaign FAA shows at the top of the page where you create them shows an email with no images AND no blank space. I'd like to find out if there's a way to accomplish that.

Never even seen that. One thing that bothers me is you can only access about 1/3 of your images in those default spaces. You can't pick the ones you want all to often.

I have mentioned it before. It would be nice if FAA supplied us with like a dozen templates that would be easier to use then the existing template. FAA uses Constant Contact and it would be easy for them to have sort of plug in. I use constant contact and we talked about doing that for one of my other webpages.

Susan,
If you want total control with a more professional campaign, use MailChimp.com. It's FREE. That's what I do for my email campaigns. I never did like the cheesy one-color look of the FAA campaigns. Also didn't like the FAA links in my email campaigns. Plus FAA doesn't send the campaign out instantly and give you instant feed back like mailchimp. With mailchimp you have FULL control.

Why not just accept the white space as part of the appearance? ... breathing room for the eyes, ... less distraction from the central visual element.

Don't fill it, embrace it.

This is funny, I'm not able to put the HTML code in for nonbreaking space 'ampersandnbsp' so I'm having to spell it out(shift7nbsp)

Is that what you are looking for Susan?

Dawn, thanks, but what I want to accomplish is the ability to make use of the blank space that occurs along the right side when you elect to remove the images FAA puts in that space.

Arthur, thanks! I will look into mail chimp today. I didn't know there was a FREE alternative out there. ☺

Susan, I sent my first email campaign out yesterday and I am so disappointed. Depending on the email service provider of the recipient, the email rendered differently. In hotmail, there is only text and no images rendered. In gmail, only the headshot and the statement from FAA on the top rendered, the entire email body is blank. Theses are two completely different issues depending on the service provider (hotmail, gmail, yahoo...) so I have no idea how to fix it. Do you have any experience with this issue?

Theresa,
Since I posted this message, I have opened a free account with MailChimp and sent out 2 email campaigns. There is a learning curve, but it's not too steep and there is MUCH more design flexibility.

Not only that, but it provides extensive reports measuring not just the number of recipients who opened the email, but how many times they opened it, whether and which links they clicked, and much more.

You can include unlimited images anywhere in the message and can make those images link directly back to your website. Social media links are also available.

The free account limits you to an email list of 2000 names. My list is smaller than that right now, so it works for me.

Here's a link to my latest email campaign. Copy and paste it into your browser. Once you get there, if you hover over the images, you'll see that each image (the header image and the button at the bottom as well as all the photos) links back to my website at just the place I want the reader to go. Pretty cool.

Theresa, I use the FAA service occasionally and I have never had that problem.

I have four email clients that I use and before I send out an email I do a test email to all of those accounts and open them on two or three different bowers and yes there are some differences. But I have never experienced anything like what you are reporting.

I do know that the email on the receiving end can be set to allow html or pictures. So maybe that is more then problem than that of the FAA system.

But the FAA system is very limited. For all my own major campaigns I use Constant Contact. Lot of people use MailChimp and report how much they like it.

The thing about email campaigns, the message and the layout is critically important.

I always though that FAA should offer maybe six templates were the seller only had to chose the images and maybe a short message. And all of your images should be available not just some as it is now.

Susan, this is extremely helpful - thank you. It's too bad it does not work correctly in FAA. I would imagine if enough people discontinue using it and refer to places like MailChimp they will eventually get it working right. But until then - this looks fantastic. I did as you suggested and I am super impressed with how yours turned out. I especially like the fact that I can click on an object and be taken RIGHT to where I can purchase it. Well done!
And your work is fantastic!! Makes me wish we were back in Florida visiting family!!

Thanks again for taking the time to help me. It's much appreciated!!
