Creating A Photographic Light Box To Improve Photos Of Your Paintings And Other Object Photography

Here is an easy, inexpensive method that I have come up with to create a photographic light box.
The purpose of the light box is to create an environment of diffused, perfectly controlled lighting, in which you place, then photograph your artwork or objects of your choice. Lights are positioned outside of the box (sides and possibly top), pointed toward the inside. Place your artwork inside the box, adjust the positions of the light. The light is diffused by passing through the translucent fabric and spread evenly throughout the inside of the box. The use of a tripod is recommended.
You can get the supplies at any home building store and fabric store. I have included a link to my instagram video below, which has a list of the items you will need (except for the lights). Not a full video, but it should give you the how to idea.

As well as having a site for my work on FAA, I also administer the group, First Friday Gallery.

The video is only a few seconds long. It shows the lightbox in assembly and use. (It's collapsible for easy storage.)
I clicked on the image, and the short video played without the usual controls.
If you click the image and don't see the image change, then I suppose it is a browser/add-on issue.

How was the video made?

Thanks for sharing this, Rob! Nice little video - gives a visual of what it will look like and how easy it is to assemble!

Thanks for all you do with the First Friday Gallery Group - very much appreciated!

Hello Everyone,
If you have trouble viewing the video, I am assuming you may need to use a different browser. I have tested the video on Google Chrome on a mac and it runs fine, but it will not currently run on the same machine with Safari.

I made the video on my iphone6. It's camera has a time lapse function built in, so set it to record and go. Once done, I imported into instagram, where you can edit, add titling, etc. Not a lot of controls there, but enough to get by.

FYI, I am planning on switching to small clamps instead of safety pins, which should speed up assembly and break down, and keep me from sticking myself and bleeding to death!

Thanks everyone for looking!
