Letter Codes In Comments

I am new to FAA and have had a few nice comments from fellow artists. At the end or within a couple of the comments have been some letters divided by slashes "/". One was v/f/l (I think), another was just f/l (if I remember correctly). What do they mean?

That means that people have "Liked and Favorited" your images!

V = voted
F = favorited
L = Liked
P = pinned
T or TW = tweeted
FB = facebook shared
G+ = google+ shared

The commenter is telling you that he or she made your image a favorite (though Facebook also starts with F so I'm never sure unless I check - you can see whether an image has been shared through FB or, by going to your Favorites, favorited and by whom), liked it (you can't see that really except the number goes up and who keeps track?). V may mean nothing, especially in combination with l - liking an image used to be called "voting" and lots of people still say "v" when they mean "like". But if you have entered the image in a contest, it MAY mean that they actually voted for it there. You may be able to tell that, too. Fact is, most of this stuff is pretty meaningless. A comment is already a great thing to get. I almost always "like" an image that I comment on - not just like it but click the like icon - and sometimes make it a Favorite, too, and I never add these little letters to my comments.

I'll give my answer and opinion, as well.
these are abbreviations for things that a user can do to indicate appreciation of an image.
Vote, Favorite, Like (not sure of this one.)

Now the opinion:
Such comments are not welcome on my images. These are generally implicit requests for you to visit their gallery, and like or favorite one of their images.
There are groups here whose whole purpose seems to be the trading of such actions, in the belief that these improve the rankings of the image in the FAA search engine.
Personally, I would rather have just the "genuine" comments on my images.
Reciprocal vote solicitation seems cheap, and actually detract for the perceived value of the artist's work, in my opinion.
I routinely delete comments that do not contain a "genuine" comment of some sort.

Thank you for your responses. They were very helpful, and I appreciated the opinions/thoughts also. I'm with you Mr. Scott. I try very hard to make only meaningful comments. I only comment on images that I genuinely like and I try to give something in the comment that tells them why. I would only make a "suggestion" if asked. I appreciate the same courtesy on comments that I receive. Though I'm reasonably new to FAA, I've been following the same kinds of principles on Flickr and Facebook for quite a while.

They do not all put codes hoping for reciprocation. And don't forget that, more often than not, these commenters mean well and have taken the time, not only to like and share your work, but to let you know they have also. Seems to me a little leeway is perfectly acceptable.

If I stop what I'm doing to make a comment, I'm going to like or fave or both....every time. It doesn't mean I am looking for reciprocation. So anyone reading this, please make sure you're aware Gregory's comment applies only to himself.

Just because I comment on someones images does not mean that I expect the same in return.
If I take the time to look and like or fave I would be upset if it was removed.
So I know whose images I wont be looking at
