Cheap Hasselblad?

I had no idea that Hasselblad sold cheap crop sensor cameras. Anyone try it?

That's incredible, I wish my wife would let me spend the $1300 just to try it.

Must be the pocket camera for the Hasselblad crowd. But +1K is cheap? I guess if you are used to buying medium format cameras.

Edward, price is always relative, but when I was young and dreamed of lugging one of their large format puppies around, they all cost many thousands more than this one. I spent considerably more than that for each of my 3 Canons, bought at B&H or Adorama, and one of them is a crop sensor!

Don, that makes sense. I've never shot with a Sony but at least that's not a knock-off name.

Edit - Bob, you can try it for 30 days!

As Don said, it's a rebadged Sony NEX-7 with some "Italian leather" thrown on it in a modified case. The reason for the massive price drop to the level they always should have sold at, is that they're being discontinued.

Hasselblad isn't Hasselblad anymore. Unfortunately it's just a brand name owned by a Chinese heavy equipment manufacturer.

I still have my 1st 500CM with 80mm C lens and a couple of magazines. Had 6 bodies, 8 lenses and 12 magazines at one time. Too bad that no one ever came out with a 6x6 digital back.

Those old ads featuring spacemen floating in space snapping shots of Earth still holds some value I see.

wiki:

"Unlike Leica in a similar partnership with Panasonic, Hasselblad doesn't make claims of reprogrammed image processing. The company, however, uses the same marketing strategy selling the OEM cameras under their brand at the prices two or three times higher than those of the original Sony cameras"

I guess if you view your camera equipment as a status symbol it might be worth overpaying.

Yeah, I was reading reviews of this camera and some buyers seemed more impressed by the wooden box than the camera. Reminds me of little kids at Christmas who would rather play with the box than the expensive toy that came in it.
