does that mean shipping prices will go down?

and do they all do the same things? or are some of those for shirts and other things?

It does mean shipping goes down as do taxes/duties.

Not sure what makes what.

Saw this a few minutes before you post this. I am thrilled as this helps those in Canada with those duty fees!

Mike click on that link and it lists off the things each place does per country

Fine Art America has expanded to 14 fulfillment centers in 5 countries!

i've been trying to sell ice to eskimo's and its been going great, but they expressed an interest in art, you know something for the igloo. and they told me the shipping, import tax and snow taxes are just too high there. and they can only pay in fish. so maybe there might be a good spot.

by the way, do we accept fish as currency?

Why do they (we) list prints and posters as separate items? Are they not the same thing?

Kathleen Bishop

Does that mean FAA won't keep charging $2.50 to mail a single card?

JC Findley

Kathleen, as you were informed in other threads it COSTS FAA $2.50 to send that card.

What it means is it won't cost as much to ship that card to Canada.

Abbie Shores

Greg, some people use posters to search and some use prints. You are covered either way here

Mike Savad

does this mean that the quality will vary from place to place? so even if an artist ordered something it may not be what the customer gets?

on the plus side i've always worried that the main place would be struck with a disaster so its great that we have spares now.

Good move just in time for this season. I like the 5 county part. Hopefully the 14 different places will keep up the quality.

Cost to send a card - packaging (envelope, cardboard), postage, handling. I can see it. If anything the customer should be encouraged to add more to their cart as it takes the handler just as much time to ship that card as a print rolled in a tube. I'd rather see them rolling a print than stuffing a card.

Wahoo! Cheaper shipping! Maybe this will help with expanding sales rate now?!?!

Sean spends a long time (as many have complained) searching for the right people for the job. Quality is a premium and all are chosen with that in mind. If they fail...... Well the consequences are too dire to mention

Awesome I can reduce my shipping fees on my Etsy shop to those countries which is awesome! (Especially Canada)

Just a stupid question... Are the new shipping prices in place immediately? I'm still seeing $25 to ship a print to Australia which is what I think it's always been.

BTW Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

"oh noooo....poor Antarctica customers."

And I have 17 penguins on my mailing list, waiting patiently... this has to happen. They need to lower the cost on shipping Hawaii prints now!

i can't imagine how dire it would be to just stop using them. i can only assume some kind of magic is involved or maybe does he wake up -- the Golem?

Glad to see it is finally spelled out for people at the top of the page! It was so confusing to explain it all and figure out what printed where!

Greg Jackson

Cool.

Note: Atlanta, Ga. is listed twice. Typo?

JC Findley

For the record.

Eskimos live in the Arctic, not the Antarctic.

On a side note, know why polar bears do not eat penguins in the wild? (true btw.)

Mike Savad

i was close, something must live there... explorers? they need art to shelter under...

Thanks for posting this Mike, as I had not seen this.

This is really great news ! I have only sold to 9 countries so far in my 6 years here at FAA, so this is pretty exciting for the future.

Happy Thanksgiving everyone !

Actually I simply stated where Eskimos live, not the other two, but yeah, I probably did have a thread.

Reminds me of this puzzle: I live in a house where all the windows have a southern exposure. A bear walks by the window. What color is the bear?

Really pleased to see that we now have a European printer (Netherlands) and framed prints are now available without paying customs charges. Is there any news on whether the products will be available from the other printers as well in the near future ? We still can't promote tote bags, pillows, shower curtains here because of the excessive customs charges.

I wonder when this comes into effect. I just checked and it still costs me $15.00 to have a $5.00 card shipped to me in Canada.

Edward Fielding

FYI - On the announcement page each product can be seen by fulfillment center. For example cards - We manufacturer greeting cards at 2 different manufacturing centers in 2 countries. (USA and UK). or We manufacturer framed prints at 7 different manufacturing centers in 4 countries.

I wish we had a similar page to the one linked at the top of FAA on our Artist Websites. I have a section in my 'about' where I had put in details about what is produced where so customers could have some idea on shipping/duties, but seeing the updated page, it's way more complex... Not easily compressed into a paragraph anymore. :-)

Exciting news: will be sure to mention this to family and friends in both Canada and the UK - hopefully it will generate some sales!
It will also be useful for some more local advertising, Toronto is less than 2 hours away.

On a side note Polar Bears don't eat Penguins because they can't get the wrappers off. (The Brits will get it anyway)

i did a check, framed prints should be coming from the netherlands when ordered from austria but i am still getting US based shipping quotes at checkout... how so?

edit, 14 hours later: ok, this seems to be now fixed.

Nicole Seal

I'm really curious about what goes into the shipping charge for a small print that is sent in a tube from australia to australia. the charge just for postage is $35 and I wonder why for a print that is not even a4.

I've sent a4 prints aust wide (very well packed) express post for less then $10 and large 1 metre sized limited editions (also very well packed) to the other end of the country for only $25 and that's with the added charge of signature as well.

Hell, I've even had prints delivered to me by courier and the courier cost was only $10/15 (depending on size) so I am really curious.

... Never mind......have emailed support for these answers:

1- Will other items follow as well such cards, metal prints, etc?

2- I deal with a few Canadian companies for Canvas prints as well as metal prints....any chance we as the artists can know whom will be doing the fulfilling on the Canadian side?

Many thanks,
~ Michel Soucy

Still no framed prints in the UK, unfortunately.

The answer to Edward's question is white.

Menega Sabidussi

@jane: for the UK the framed print would be coming from the netherlands. is the checkout not reflecting that? it didn't for me yesterday evening (shipping to austria) but it is now...

Jane McIlroy

Thanks Menega, I didn't know that - I thought frames still had to come from America. That's good news!
