Paypal Question

I wouldn't mind doing some Christmas shopping using PayPal. What are some online sites that take it? (Aside from FAA of course) And the recipients are my kids

Most sites take paypal now. I rarely run into a site that doesn't.

Nearly every site takes Paypal.

B&H takes paypal. Your kids wanted some new lenses right. ;)

You should look at getting the PayPal Mastercard. Then you can use PayPal everywhere.

I read somewhere that some of the major retailers are taking PayPal in the stores at the cash register from your account to theirs.

I don't do much shopping so I don't know if that ever happened or not. But I don't think anyone online does not take PayPal.

Paypal Mastercard is pretty much the best thing ever. No more transferring to the regular bank account.

I decided to go googling because I keep running into random places online that still don't take Paypal. Maybe I should spend less time on computer parts sites...

Best Buy takes Paypal online. Not sure if they take it in-store yet or not, but you might be able to call and ask.

Toys R Us takes Paypal. In fact, last year around this time they had an online coupon for $5 off an order of $25 or more. Maybe you can find something like that for this year, too.

Not sure everyone on eBay takes it but I certainly haven't run into anyone who doesn't lately. Being able to accept credit cards through Paypal has really opened up the seller options.

To those who use the Paypal Mastercard - are there any downsides (other than having access to all that money, which is often too tempting for me...)? I've been refusing the offer but now I'm thinking it's not such a bad idea. Waiting 3 - 5 for the money from my acct is a pain.

No downsides so far and I was one of the very first to get it on the trial

IF I had steady income to my paypal account - I'd get a PP mastercard - but since my PP account is usually empty - it's just another credit card and I don't need it.

Every site takes PayPal because you can use it as a debit card. This site certainly does: www.edwardfielding.com

It acts like a credit card but is actually a debit card....ie you cannot spend more money than you have in the account at the time

For those who demand FAA take PayPal for premium accounts, I pay my premium with my PayPal card

Does the PayPal Mastercard kick back percentages for gas, food, etc.,like AMEX?

Couple months ago I got the AMEX Blue Card and tied it to my PayPal account. AMEX offered no interest for the first 15 months AND a $200.00 credit if I spent a thousand in the first 3 months. The $200.00 credit kicked in as soon as I hit the thousand mark. They are pushing the blue card because Costco is dumping the Costco AMEX next spring.

No because it's not a credit card wanting you to spend their money. It's a debit card so you can only spend what you have in your account at that time

I invoice using Paypal so it is how I get paid for just about everything... Works just like my regular bank account debit card.

Thanks. So you keep a balance in your PayPal account as if it were a regular bank then use the Mastercard to draw from that? Seems like a good idea so you don't spend more than what's available.

I get paid for everything via PayPal with a few exceptions. But I cut my PayPal card up. I found no use for it.

I put everything on one credit card and earn Marriott points. If I know I am going to buy something from Best Buy, I buy Best Buy gift cards from Vons and get 2 times the gas rewards for gal purchases and the Marriott points. I very rarely pay for a hotel room and I get my gas a $1.00 off the pump price at Vons gas, already the lowest gas in the area. Win/Win.

Oh and I never carry a balance forward on that credit card.

That's the key! Never carry a balance on any card that charges interest. If you can't pay the entire amount each cycle, don't charge it. I am way old and haven't paid a dime in interest on any card, ever.

Thanks so much for all the input! Besides getting paid through Paypal here, I'm also a regular seller on eBay, plus I started an online editing service recently and will be invoicing that to Paypal as well. It wouldn't be any different than using our bank debit card, which we always use as credit anyway. Maybe it's time to give Paypal's card a try.
