you need to advertise constantly.

you want more than 24 images

Photography Prints
you want better descriptions and far more keywords. try to post mostly images you would buy and hang on your own walls. ideally you want to find themes that people like because you have to find and market to those people

Art Prints
you want images that are in focus, and a description why you made this the way it is and what it is. again more keywords.

your bio should reflect what you actually do, and not leave it up to us. these are keywords for google to find.

keep in mind it takes a lot longer than 2 weeks to make a sale. some people might be less, most will be more. especially if your new

Art Prints
without actually critiquing your photos - i don't get most of the overlays you put on some of these. simply calling this a flower - no one will find it, at least name the type, color etc.

overall all your images lack keywords, some have 4-5 and that's it. not many will find these. you'll want more images with more themes and a consistent style.

simply having a fan page isn't enough you need fans. you need to build an audience first. find them on twitter, blogs etc. the work has to attract people, that's first and foremost. always think about the types of people that are shopping for things. and if you can't, think of the things you would buy for your own house and shoot that.

Lisa,

Welcome!

You have a few nice images, but even if ALL 24 were nice, really not enough. Invest some time in keywords and either create some new images and replace the weak sisters or upload existing images.

This isn't a guaranteed business here and the competition is fierce. I've been bumped from the first few pages, a number of times, by companies coming and dumping 25,000 images or more.

Hi Lisa

It doesn't matter how many other images are here if you have strong work and do a lot of leg work to get your name out there :). Only add your best work, believe in yourself and do look to see what the big sellers are doing.

Good strong titles, descriptions and keywords.
Strong printable images.
Good advertising

Your images are good. Please be careful with your spelling. There are 2 spelling errors/typos in your bio alone. Just a thought. Good luck!

1,200 new members so far today. 1,300 new images.

I think we all start out thinking that its as simple as uploading a few images, sitting back and watching the sales roll in. The reality is you have to do something to stand out from the flood. and it might take more than a few weeks.

Took me a good 3 - 4 years to really get anywhere here....Not because FAA, but because I wasn't doing anything....I wish it was a simple as list and sell. That is the fantasy. But it was many countless hours every day creating and marketing and building a huge social media and blog following.

theoretically you don't need a lot if you have the right stuff. and the right stuff often comes down to knowing what your best sellers are and removing the rest. but if there were only 24 items in a real store - most people would leave if they ever got in there. selection is what is needed.

every week i upload new things, just like a tv show, if you don't keep making new things people get bored and leave. everything i send here, takes at least 3 months before it might make a sale. and only if people like it, others advertise it and maybe it might sell. or it might sit for years on end and never sell.

24 items with a consistent theme/style/look might get you noticed by the collection pickers and rocket you to the top. But the quality also has to be there.

Mike... when you "tweet" out to get followers.... do you also follow them? How do you keep your followers following you without spending so much time following them. Hope I am making sense. I guess one has to give back to the followers... but it is very time consuming??

Lisa,

Success leaves clues. Look at what other's who are successful and what they are doing. You will see a lot of work getting to where they are today.

And yes, use all the keywords, and keyword phrases you can and put in your description what your image is.

Mike Savad

it will always be time consuming. i always follow back because if you don't, they'll drop you. i should retweet their stuff so they do mine, but that part takes too much time. an artist has to create and spend time marketing and usually the marketing part is the hard part for most artist. i only do a framework myself. but you have to do a little each day. get new followers now and then cull out the old ones that didn't follow you back to maintain your ratio etc.

The best lessons of the recently sold page is the level of quality in the images purchased. This is the level you want to strive for --- product comes first, then promotion and ultimately sales.

If you have an outstanding product, you will be found.

why don't the ops ever come back to these sales threads?

I want to thank all of you who gave me suggestions. I'm still not sure I understand the "marketing" information. I'm not on tweeter, but I have posted on Google+. Do any of you do shows such as art or craft shows?

Mike Savad

i don't do craft shows and such. but you'll have to understand how to use twitter and the others. its one of the ways how you sell things. google plus i found limiting, it never really took off.

During the season for it, me and another photographer do a farmers market every Friday afternoon. It honestly changes from each market Friday some times we have several sales and other times nothing. A few months back did a hot air balloon festival and sold several prints and greeting cards.

Mike, I have never understood the forum thing. If I post a lot of comments on FAA does that count as Forum activity and increase my internet visibility?

Whoops! I meant to put this question on one of Mike's advice posts.

Marketing is a cumulative effort. You develop an audience over time if you market consistently. I might be getting sales today that the buyer has been thinking about for months or years.

theoretically yes. though i add my link to help it out. the more you type, provided its not a private thread, the better your chances are at being seen. however its an accidental finding usually. and if they see your picture they might click on it. you kind of have to be everywhere.

Edward, that is a great philosophy. I'm in the process of filling my quiver as we speak.

Google lives by it. Its one measure of relevancy.
