Rotating A Photo

Hello Everyone,
I am a total newbie here. For some reason, when I uploaded my photo to the site, it was rotated and is now setting on its side. How do I get it right side up and why did this happen?
Thank you,
Diane

I took a look. Looks like a portrait mode image but loaded in landscape orientation. Did you load it as a landscape or portrait?

Only way I know to modify an existing image: Select the image, click on Edit Image, then Change Image. This should keep your text intact while swapping the image.

I don't think you can change the orientation once loaded. Only option is to modify as above, or start over with a new image.

You have to open it in a photo editing program and save it in the orientation it is supposed to be. While your camera may label it one way or the other the site doesn't recognize that.

this is something sean really should update, everything is orientation aware these days.

FYI only: I use Picasa, a freeware program to rotate and crop my images. It is easy to use.

Once I have rotated them, or cropped them, and made them look how I want them to look, I save them and they always upload to FAA however I saved them... no choosing landscape or portrait orientation involved.

I don't get. Whe are people editing sideways picture to begin with? Or are you just trying to go from the camera to the upload?

the camera all cameras shoot in landscape, however new cameras have a chip that makes it orientation aware. that information is fed into editors, or windows phones etc. and flips the image automatically. facebook i think flips the image. the people that upload images that are sideways - are not editing anything at all. but they really should be.

Also, thank you for not being negative in your comments. Have a Happy Thanksgiving.
