I've joined and submitted images over a period of time. Over a several week period (maybe a few months) I've noticed I was a group member and then not a group member. I thought It was a glitch in the system. I finally get a notice that I was being dropped because I wasn't submitting enough images. Unless I missed it there is no amount requirement. If you drop someone you should give reason why the first time. Who ever runs this site is not very considerate.

Steve, that is not making any sense? Who or what is the Gallery Wall?

Is that an FAA group? If it is, the rules don't have to make sense. They can be what the administrator wants them to be.

Admins run their groups as long as they follow the website guidelines. Your best line of action is an email to the group admin, if that does not please you, Steve, send me or Abbie a direct message to look into it. Hope this answers your questions, Steve. If this group is not working for you there are 3000 + others to choose from. Personally I join and leave groups on a regular basis until I find a good fit with the admin.

the gallery wall of a particular group then? because you have your own gallery wall in your store.

odd that they would drop anyone because of too few images, but if that was the rule then oh well. but that's why you join many groups, and you should probably upload more work more often.

I have got to where I rarely submit to groups because I cannot remember which ones are one image a day nor any other rules. When I upload it tends to be in batches so one a day doesn't work real well for me.

So it goes.

I think he's talking about a group call "The Gallery Wall". I was a member for a while and left for reasons I won't mention. I'm with Frank, if you don't like how a group is run quit it and join a different group. I've become very picky lately and have quit nearly half the groups I'm a member of over the last month. It's nothing worth stressing over IMO.

Yes, Steve, found the group and the last sentence on the guidelines pertains to your matter. Please go read it.

David -- agree. I belong to less groups that are more productive for my work because of how you said it.

I have something like 8 groups that I check the box to add a recent image, but I expect only
so much ever out of a group. It is an introduction to pumping up some views, but only a limited one.

You cant pump water from a dry well and you can sell from an empty wagon.

So having a few more views helps. But that is not sales.

Most of my views now come from outside of FAA. As it should be. This is not an easy undertaking for most newbies.

The newbies that get really wrapped up in groups are misdirected to some degree, unless they are using the group
to expand their marketing or artistic skills.

I prefer socializing in the forum. No views on most days.

Thanks all for your thoughts. I don't know what the advantages are for being in groups other than for the fun of it and perhaps corresponding with other artist. If you are a ladeda group like the one in question, it is no fun. Some one tell me about the ladeda supposed award the group received.

I stopped dealing with groups and started concentrating on selling and saw my sales soar. But I will say that early on I found that participating in groups did help me improve my work and spurred me on to create better and better stuff.

Sales versed views is strange. I have a couple images with over 10,000 views with no sales. One of my images had a sale before it reached a hundred views. Go figure.

Edward that is true. Good critiques from other artist can be very helpful. Artsig, I think it's called was a great site to be on to help improve your art. I haven't participated on it for years though.

views don't mean anything. it all depends who views it. its no different than people passing by your window as opposed to walking in because they were actually looking for something.

Edward what are some of the type of things you do that have helped your sales?

Frank J Casella

There are a number of members who make sales each month moving images through groups with no outside marketing.

I am perfectly happy with the way the group The Gallery Wall is run. The rules are clear, and I have had no issues. Of course you get out of it what you put into it, and in the end if you don't enjoy being a member then you can always drop out of the group. They are, after all, only for fun and interaction. CJ puts a huge amount of effort into managing this group and is pretty clear in her instructions. Being a group admin myself I am aware how much work this is, so I am sure she would appreciate direct communication rather than a generalized comment on the main discussion board... JMHO

I agree with Richard, and have to add CJ is one of the best administrators on FAA. She works hard to figure out creative and productive ways to promote her groups work. Some of the active promotions she comes up with, I think, "Gee I wish I would have come up with that." She really cares about her group, and their art is primary on her list. The work in her group is excellent, very high caliber, as promised, Gallery Wall art!

Its unfortunate this happened, but as an administrator I have to say, it isn't easy, and it's difficult to please every one. So one does the best they can.

I am the admin for THE GALLERY WALL http://fineartamerica.com/groups/the-gallery-wall-.html?tab=overview and appreciate the promotions for the group. Since this posting 9 new members have wished to join. What I would like to address is that when weekly or bi-monthly group updates are not read or pertinent information is ignored, that's not on me. There have been 3 "alerts" to ALL group members that "cleaning house" was necessary and that if ANY member had not submitted work in a 60 or 90 day period they would be removed. If anyone was removed in JULY and is just now realizing they have not been a member since that time tells me volumes...

Since having a negative experience with the Gallery Wall, I've had tenfold positive experiences with other groups just in the last 24 hours.
