Easter Dinner Help Me With Roasting A Rabbit

Art Prints
I started this new painting today called "Easter Dinner" I came up with it last Easter. Where a family is sitting down to Easter dinner and the wife/mother ended up roasting the Easter Bunny,a bit of dark humor. I eventually am going to make cards with the image that says "Happy Fricken Easter" for those well you know lol. My issue is when I posted this on FB someone thought it was a chocolate bunny rather than a Roasted Easter bunny, What would be a good way to make him feel more roasted without something in his mouth? he is going to be on a platter with yummy carrots and sides dishes compliment the table along with an Easter basket with eggs.

Used to hunt and have eaten lots of rabbit.

But never roasted, we BB-Qed them.

Rabbit on a spit...

We didn't use a spit, we put them on the grill. But I can see a card with a rabbit on a spit and that "Happy Fricken Easter" wording.

The bunnies in my backyard have gray fur, Leah. Maybe a little color change? Although I guess if he's roasted, he would be brown.....hmmm.

Yes Mary exactly, there is no fur he is roasted, good thought Floyd I like it just not for this one, That should be an upcoming one thanks :)

Leah, add a little bump texture and a bit of wet/oil shine. Look at a roasted turkey pic.

i guess you can make a second one where they are carving into it and there was candy in it.

but i guess for this, i would surround it by carrots and that green grass. i think the issue is, that the easter bunny (most that i've seen), are white. or maybe spotted with tan spots.

or the bunny has to be on its back with those drumstick hats on the ends of its legs.

that's with fur though Mike, this one is skinned and roasted. Good thought Cynthia, maybe I should add a glaze over it with orange slices and spices hmm that just might work

You'd need to have an apple sticking out of its mouth before I'd realize it's a roasted bunny! It would never even occur to me. Doesn't compute in my world. Bunnies are chocolate all the way.

Love the "Happy Fricken Easter" wording, though. Funny.

That would have been a good idea if I put him on his back darn I didn't think of that earlier

How about some steam coming off of him?

I like the steam idea if that would work it reall might need something that really says roasted though like the rabbit preparation, glaze? BBQ sauce dribbled all over him with a BBQ bottle next to it? not sure

Thing about Easter - its either a very serious holy day or people don't care much. Not like Xmas where everyone looks forward to it even if they aren't religious. Not sure there will be much of a market for this.

In any case the trick will be to make it look roasted and not chocolate. Perhaps more red than brown and a big set of carving knives in the father's hands.

Yes there will be a market for it Edward :) especially dark humor and I am doing it lol. I like that idea the Father holding carving tools, good input ,thanks :)

i think if you were simply carving into it, and showed it was meat, and not dessert, it think that would do the trick. a leg on a plate with a spot paler than the rest.

Of course too realistic will not work... it will back fire... me thinks...

I agree Floyd ,not too realistic BUT a bit of realism is good a balance is needed. Good thought Mike, anyone for a drumstick? lol

maybe just a big ol fork coming out of it is enough. or maybe the vantage is wrong, maybe it should be more like rockwell's dinner and the bunny coming in on a plate with everyone hungry for it. the plates could have the green grass on it maybe. in that case, it could be chocolate or not.

Ah that's a really good thought Mike with the Fork stuck in it and maybe the glaze idea I have, that might be it the combination together :)

be sure to line the plate with easter eggs.

Leah, how about some carrots and celery corn on the cobb and other veggies all around him in a serving tray.

Oh, I just read your complete op, you said carrots.

You could sit Elmer Fudd at the dinner table and call it "Woasting a Wabbit".

Why do you write fricken instead of frickin? Just been wondering . . .

And I think there has to be something in its mouth - but it should be a carrot, maybe even with the green leaves still on it . . .

Is it supposed to be Frickin? It's my naivety I guess. People still buy the prints and cards with Fricken, I thought it's just a made up word not even in the dictionary so does it matter? but I am curious if Frickin is the right way,

Even more appealing....a rabbit with tire marks on it.

Cook while warm. Happy Easter!

That's a whole different thing Mike, Fricken or frickin is supposed take place the big F bomb word

Steam

Could you droop it's head down and make the ears look (candle-like) singed and charred (a bit only) with smoke and/or steam eminating from orifices?

Phyllis Beiser

Also, add a tad of gold like roasted meat as opposed to the darker browns.

Michelle Spalding

Maybe some of those little paper hat frill things on the ends of his ears or feet?

Edit: Oh. Mike said that already. I'll just second it then.
