Huh?

I just uploaded a new piece of art which I placed in a protected gallery. I have never posted it before, just finished painting it. As I hit submit art, the facebook icon immediately said 39 shares! I did not post it yet. What would cause this to happen?

I think that's just some sort of glitch, Phyllis. I posted one in a private gallery a few months ago and it claimed 300+ people on Facebook had shared it as soon as it was posted. No way that really happened. If it did, I'd make them all privare. ;-)

Did you turn OFF the Facebook posting option at the foot of the submission page when you added it?

I thought of the name perhaps not being unique so I checked that, nothing. Checked my fb page, not there. I think Mark is right, just a glitch.

Or maybe alien axist in a code and attacking your link to use for something

Phyllis ... my magic number is 97. I noticed this anomaly a long time ago.

I haven't checked every one of my uploads, but looks like all my images in my protected galleries have 97 FB likes.

I don't have the auto fb ticked, so at least in my case it doesn't have anything to do with that.

Maybe it's a kind of template entry that is telling the computer something, or the other way around. Odd, though, as if that were the case I'd think all of us would be seeing the same number.

Or maybe aliens dont want to be notice :D

Actually, this inspired me to work out what is happenning using Facebook's debugging tool as I still have a piece in my private gallery and it shows 368 Facebook likes.

Facebook can't access the URL because it's in a private gallery. Instead it's returning with the # of people who like my FAA profile page. i plugged in your profile page on the FB debugger, Phylis and it shows 39 which shows the same thing is happening on your private piece, i.e. it's the number of likes/shares for your profile instead.

Louis, I am glad that I am not the only one who this has happened to. I do not want to post any of my new work until after my upcoming show. The curator asked me to keep my new work a surprise. I have just been placing them in a protected gallery until then. Oh well. Stranger things have happened.

Thanks Mark. that makes a little more sense.

No problem, I wondered where that # was coming from, but didn't bother to check until you noticed the same issue. It's more of a Facebook glitch than anything. I don't think they should return counts for an inaccessible url that way....

Thanks for providing the FB info, Mark, as I always get views (21 currently) on not-for-sale images when I post them.

Sorry Phyllis i have told wrong i mean aliens are hiding where they think that they will not noticed but they dont know most great artists need many year to get noticed and i think one day aliens will noticed if they are hiding in your gallery :)
