I finally got around to uploading my two latest paintings. First a painting of a nature scene by a hiking trail I frequent in the Wasatch Mountains of northern Utah consisting of the roots of a pine tree hanging on to rocky hillside.



And a fall scene of some very colorful autumn foliage in front of a barn, this scene is in the small town of Peterson, Utah.

This is an acrylic plein air painting I did of an old tractor that lives near my home.

The title is from a poem that refers to a farmer's tractor named "Old Faithful".

My acrylic Holiday Painting

Original watercolor painting. Inspired by the aspen trees of the Colorado Rocky Mountains, I wanted to evoke the changing of the seasons here, with crisp autumn still present in the ground vegetation, with rich orange, magenta, and brown tones, but also a hint of winter approaching, with the trees now bare, all of their leaves having fallen to the ground, and a wintry sky overhead. A few white-barked birch, or aspen, stand tall in the foreground, and smaller clumps of trees recede into the background, with a hint of distant forest. Rolling meadow and grasses fill the foreground, and warm, soft colors fill the piece.

This is a second version of an oil painting I did. I embellished this one with multiple images of the same painting, resizing and digital paint (the orange background color) and text.

Original watercolor that I painted yesterday

I was inspired to paint the impression of a Hermit Thrush, a medium-sized songbird of North America. I wanted this bird to be the main subject matter, but I also wanted to create an interesting background with a sense of movement and design. Many colors fill this lively piece, with warm autumn orange, yellow, and magenta tones in the leaves, and darker olive, purple, and blue tones in the undergrowth and shadows.
