Just started posting on Instagram a few weeks ago after they allowed non-square photos. So far I've seen an uptick in visitors to my web site, but no buyers so far. Still, holding out hope.

I am, but not really using it as much as I should. Had no results and seems to be the last thing I do, when I think about it! LOL!

✿ . . ★ . . :: thank you for participating everyone . . . believe it or not there are several Sharon Mau's in the world . . which surprises me . . I was lucky to lock down my name on twitter . pinterest . google+ and almost everything else as well especially what is most important . . but on instagram it was already taken . . thus @sharonmauhawaii

. I use IG primarily as a fabulous international social network . . I have linked with many of my favourite photographers and artists all around the world . . and met some new ones . . it is a wonderful platform and I enjoy it very much . . and such a lovely way to share my day as I am out and about on the island . . have only been active a few weeks so don't have much up yet . . . . gained a few followers organically which is cool . . .

. don't yet have an iPad . so can only post from my iPhone 6+ . . . with no way to post small copyrighted copies of my pro work it is impossible to create a professional appearance at this time . .

@duanemillerphotography . . you can use an app called instasize for posting images in their full size if you don't want a square crop . . I use it now and then . .
I also use a few other apps occasionally for enhancements . filters . textures etc . . and I like instaquote . . which is fun . .

and I've had a tremendous push on sales on society6 . . wow . . seriously . . every day . . . but not here yet . I do hope that will happen soon as this is my primary storefront so I do always try to drive my traffic to my AW portfolio first . . . .

. . I am rather impatiently and eagerly anticipating the release of the gorgeous new Apple iPad Pro to be released in November . .

Apple iPad Pro • Wi-Fi + Cellular • 128GB = WOW

then my IG account will quite magically transform :)))) :: . . ★ . . ☆ ✿ ☆ ✿ . . ★ . . ✤ •*`*•.¸¸.•*`*•.¸¸✽ ❥

✿ . . ★ . . :: thought you may wish to know I've discovered how to post small low res copyrighted copies of our professional portfolio to promote on IG . and it is so relatively simple it is amazing . . . . so here's the scoop . . .

Open the image you wish to use and make a copy of your work you wish to promote + save it to a new file folder . .
Never never never touch your original . .
Create a new file/folder to store these small copies preferably on an external hard drive . . about the same size you use to promote on twitter and facebook and google+ and other social networks . . . name your new folder something unique so you may keep track of what you've posted to IG more easily . . something like IG files etc. .
.
On your image copy add your copyright watermark with your website URL link if you prefer . frame it if you like . however you wish to present it . .
flatten your layers . . then resize the image small by either using your resize tool or cropping it . . . about 500 x 500 for square and similar dimensions on standard landscape format . . this way it will still look beautiful on mobile platforms as well as the net but is rendered useless to anyone who wishes to steal it . . I use Adobe Photoshop CS5 Extended . . you can use whatever software you prefer . . and save it to your new folder . you can rename this small copy whatever you like ending with something like no-meta-data . .

now . from your start menu click on computer . then select your drive and click on your folder to open it . . select your image by clicking on it to highlight it then right click on it to open
• Properties

now . on your tabs you'll see General • Security • Details • Previous Versions
Click on the tab Details
look below and click on Remove Properties and Personal Information

a new window will open
Remove Properties
click on
Create a copy with all possible properties removed
click on Yes
That window will close and a new copy is created .
Close the window you have open on your image file . by clicking on OK

this action removes most of your meta data
to protect your privacy and Exif details

Now click on your new image which will be titled similarly but have Copy at the end of it . . like this :
no-meta-data - Copy
and under the tab General read your image title (you can always rename it if you wish) then look down at the

Attributes : check Read-only .
This action effectively locks the file . . now if someone downloads your image from the internet they can only read it but cannot change the meta data . . .

• TIP
After you've completed these steps it is a good idea to delete your first small copy in your IG file so that when you are emailing your attachment to yourself you don't select the wrong file . .

Now send this file to yourself in an email attachment . .
Do this with as many images as you wish . .

Now . . log in to your email with your smartphone . .
Open your email and save your image attachments to your phone . .

That's it !!

You now have small low res copyrighted versions of your professional work to share on your IG network :)))))))))))))

If you've already created small copyrighted files for sharing on twitter g+ fb etc . this makes the process a breeze . . :))

And now you know what I'll be working on within the next few days . . if this helps you as I am sure it will please let me know with a reply . . Aloha :)))) :: . . ★ . . ☆ ✿ ☆ ✿ . . ★ . . ✤ •*`*•.¸¸.•*`*•.¸¸✽ ❥

As Mark Papke asked - is there any way to manage Instagram account (I actually have set it with one person help) and load the pictures from computer? I dont have smartphone and will not get it in the nearest future, but would love to use this social network as heard its really working greatly

No iPad. Any other way? I know should be some way to manage it from computer.. have to Google it

Jenny Rainbow

Well I found a tutorial on youtube, so who has the same issue like me, you can do it from your computer with the program BLUESTACKS
here is tutorial:

Sharon Mau

. . ★ . . :: thanks everyone . . . hej jenny . . keyword = mobile app . .

ja . you may view your IG account on a desktop or mac or pc (mission control) but you cannot use many of the key features or upload onto instagram from a computer . . plus you cannot see your followers or following lists or much of anything . . those features are rendered inactive and you cannot click on them . .

The uniqueness of IG is that you must use a smartphone and/or tablet device such as Apple iOS an Apple iPad or one of it's competitors/alternatives such as galaxy . surface . transformer . venue . xperia . nexus . . etc. .

For me personally . .as I said . I am rather impatiently and eagerly anticipating the release of the gorgeous new Apple iPad Pro to be released in November . . Apple iPad Pro • Wi-Fi + Cellular • 128GB = WOW :))) . . then it will be infinitely easier to use IG rather than from my iPhone 6+ which is nice but you really have to keep an eye on your data usage . Point on that is if I am simply viewing I will log in to IG from my pc to save data . . but if I am going to post something and wish to really utilize the interface in its full functionality then I must log in on my iPhone . . so I am looking forward to having the iPad Pro soon :)))) :: . . ★ . .

Here's more on that . quotes from the source :

"Instagram has official apps both for iOS and Android, the service does not offer an official Web or desktop interface."

"Instagram is a mobile app that you can download on iOS and Android phones and tablets as well as Windows Phone 8 and later. You must create your account using the Instagram mobile app, not a computer. After you've downloaded the app and created an account, you can then view Instagram from a computer. To start using Instagram: Download the Instagram app for iOS from the App Store, Android from Google Play Store or Windows Phone from the Windows Phone Store." https://help.instagram.com/182492381886913/

I just started an account on Instagram. I don't have a smart phone. But I do have an iPad, which is synced to my desktop PC. So I e-mailed a photo to myself from my desktop, which also went to my iPad. My iPad has an Instagram app on it. So I sent the photo that was in my e-mail on my iPad to Instagram using the Instagram app. But the photo is really, really blurry. Does anyone know what I'm doing wrong? I would appreciate any help that I can get. Thank you!

I'm new to Instagram and trying to figure it out, how all the funny thing works...Last experiment is pretty confusing - I shared some images and got lots of likes (hearts) to see the number getting lower today. What is going on? Do people come back to un-like my work or something? Can I expect to see zero likes in next few days? Should I get likes every day to keep the likes level... daily? :D Or maybe my device is lying? Confused, seriously...

I just opened an Instagram account the other day and am not fully uploaded with all my images but I am working on it. I think I am going to be very happy with it. I was leery at first because the lazy person in me didn't want to put all my images on my tablet but then I discovered Buffer https://buffer.com and found it so easy to share right from my Pixels website. After Buffer creates the post I add a smaller pic from my hard drive with a watermark that I make when I create the original graphic Buffer adds the link for me along with the smaller picture. I open my tablet and it is there waiting for me to size and post right in Instagram. As for the hashtags I just add the same tags I use for Twitter and sometimes more as there doesn't seem to be a limit with hash tags. This morning I made up my own advertising image with pics of merchandise from one of my abstracts and I added my web page address on it then posted it with Buffer. I like how it looks in there so I added it to Twitter too and now I think I will make up more of these advertising images to repost in Instagram and Twitter every now and then.

My Instagram is @3crowarts, having great response to the work there and connecting with other photographers, collectors and possible buyers. I've sold several pieces I had printed myself and shipped to them. The good thing about Instagram and Twitter networking is that you can build your client and email lists because you know who is buying your work it's not a secret which only promotes future sales for the printer and the artist! i am following a few of you already, happy to follow others so wave a hand!

I'd like to know what size photo everyone is posting. Instagram recommends 1080 pixels on the wide side, but that seems a little large to me. Anyone posting this size?
