Voting Begins In The State Parks Of The United States Contest

Voting is on in the STATE PARKS OF THE UNITED STATES Contest sponsored by the National Parks and More Group. This contest stressed the “And More” of the group concentrating only on images shot in STATE PARKS.

Voting rules are simple and, of course, out of my hands. They are enforced rigidly by FAA. I am supplying the voting rules below:

1)   You must be a member of Pixels.com (or Fine Art America, the Pixels is there because I am a Pixels member within FAA) in order to cast votes in this contest.   Your account must have been active at least 30 days prior to the start of the contest in order to vote.
2)   You may only vote once per image.
3)   You may vote for a total of 3 different images... but again, only once for any given image.

Because the voting is limited to a total of three and only three images, I thought I’d share my own voting method. I quickly run through all images noting the number of the images that strike me as ones I might vote for. At the same time I use a Command-Click (Control on a PC) for each of the images I wish to explore further. Once I am finished, I go back and look more closely at each image, eliminating some and keeping others. I continue the process until I finally narrow down to three images to vote for. As the administrator I never vote for my own images (you just have to trust me on that one) and I strongly recommend you follow the same path. Vote for your image if and only if you think it is worthy of winning on an objective level. This is one way to see how you stack up against other photographers who take their work as seriously as you. Of course, this is my way to vote for images in any given contest and I only share it because when there are 120 plus images to go through the task may seem daunting but when one creates a systematic approach, the task narrows down to one that is quite workable. By the way, when it comes to the final three, I tend to find that decisions narrow down to technical issues as compositional issues were what struck me in the first place.

I want to thank all the members participating in the contest. The overall results are stunning and we should all just take a bow. Too bad we must select winners because in my mind there are no losers here.

Below is a link to the contest home page. To vote simply click on the “Vote” tab (Second from the left) and Viola the contest images appear one at a time. Scrolling arrows appear mid-image for easy scrolling through.

Thank you for taking the time to vote for your three favorite images.
