Question About Lcd Loupe/ Viewfinder

I'm looking into buying a loupe? view finder. I see that Hoodman loupes are a 1:1 ratio magnification, everyone else is anywhere from 2-3x magnification. Does anybody have any experience with these? Trying to figure out if having say a 2.5x would be better than a 1:1, or would I lose some of my viewing area with anything greater than 1:1. I understand that 1:1 should fill the whole view of the image, so does that mean that I'm only going to see half the LCD screen image with a 2x loupe?

I use a Hoodman. Not sure why you'd want a magnifying loupe when you can zoom in on the LCD with the camera (which is what I do to look at detail through the Hoodman)

Thanks for the reply Dave, thats what I thought. But its weird that everyone else besides Hoodman Loupes are 2+ x magnification or more. Would like some other responses from the 10 bizzilllion photographers on this site. I'm sure that there has to be someone else that uses a loupe besides Dave.
