Should I Create Two Accounts Or Use Galleries To Separate Different Styles Of Work.

Hello Everyone,

Currently I have a page offering prints of my paintings which are colorful and surreal in style. However I also do portraits usually in graphite that are much more realistic and have sold much better than my paintings. Many people do not see any style link between my two forms of artwork and often don't realize the same artist is behind the differing works.
I consider my paintings to be my true art as they are from me without need to bind myself to reality or likenesses and currently I sign all my paintings as Kytain.( Though some of my older works are signed Robert Kelly.) I am considering adding some of my portrait/figure work to this site but wonder is it better to create a separate account (if allowed) for this more 'realistic' work and avoid confusing my audience? Or would placing these works in a separate gallery suffice? I know unity in style, work and vision matter in art and I don't want to jeopardize my message with conflicting styles that might confuse viewers.

I have attached a 'rough' example of my portrait work for comparison. I know it is not lit or defined enough for prints.

Thank You in advance for your perspectives,
Kytain

you do yourself no favors dividing the stores. while some don't want them to mix, you have to not only pay for two accounts, but advertise them both. because the search is sales based, if one account does better than the other, you would be competing against yourself. your better of just dividing things up. buyers aren't that confused.

One account as Mike is saying, and start people in galleries not images.

I'd keep them under the same umbrella, separated by galleries. Your viewers/buyers/collectors won't be confused if your portfolio is well-organized, and they might just be thrilled to realize you're multi-talented!

Best of luck!

I agree, one account, especially since site search is affected by sales.

That being said, anyone have any thoughts on how many galleries are too many, and just how granular one should go? I have my work in art style genres for the most part (e.g., Painted Photography, Conceptual Fractal Art, etc.), but am wondering if I shouldn't also drill down a bit more beyond my "Contemporary Florals" and "Land Escapes" to things like "Pennsylvania" and "Trees." Whatdya think?

I also suggest one account.
I use two accounts and I make regular sales on one account and hardly ever sell on the other account.
My images on my second account get little to no visibility and my primary account gets lots of visibility.
I think putting them all in one account gives you a better chance of selling.

it would also be a good idea to add a blurb at the top of each gallery explaining what they see. and a bit in the bio of the types of art you sell.

Absolutely agree with the one account approach. It is a wonderful thing to be so talented in such different styles. No reason to keep them apart except by using galleries.

I see you are in Valrico...I have family there myself.

Welcome to FAA. : )
