Luner Eclipse Sunday Night

This is supposed to be a spectacular event. Any tips for photographing this? They say to sturdy your camera preferably with a tripod, but if I am using my 300mm long lens, my tripod won't support it too well. I have taken photos of the moon before, but this one is supposed to be very rare. I live on the East Coast, any idea for what time I should be looking at to go out there and shoot it?

The moon has been rising so early on the eastern seaboard. Yesterday I noticed it was well above the treeline before the sun even set. Getting it on the horizon (when it looks the biggest) will be tricky on this one.

The moon is such an integral feature of the Earth that even life depends on it for balance and knowing when to procreate. If you ever go to The Great Barrier Reef (or see the movies) of the explosion of life at just the right phase and time you'll know what I mean, Millions of glittering stars erupting under the ocean's surface to find their way in the waves to create a new coral islet.

Amazing.

For the past few months sunrises just after the moon sets. For NYC, the times are as follows:

For Sunday 9/27/15

Sun rise - 6:46 AM
Sun set - 6:46 PM

Moon set 6:02 AM
Moon rise - 6:36 PM

You can get the exact time for your city at http://www.timeanddate.com/worldclock/moonrise.html
