Jimmy Hendrix

Jimmy died 45 years ago today. Still no one has reached his level of guitar creativity and individual expression.

Truth.
Although, Tom Morello has done some fascinating things.

Don't know his work but will look for it. I can hardly imagine how cool J was. Mind blowing art!

Jimi's lyrics for Axis Bold As Love speak about an artist's experience of the power of color:

Very true, the Electric Ladyland album in particular still amazes me every time I hear it, RIP Jimi. Wish I'd been born earlier so I could have seen him live.....

Even ZZ was in awe!

I agree about Jimi! I have always liked Slash too.

Still enjoy Jimi's music. Electric Ladyland, in my opinion only, is his best album.

Saw him in concert many times, met him once at a post-concert party. Interesting person, brilliant musician. Even my daughter who was born 20+ years after his death knows and loves his music. That sorta' says it all.

My dad is a Brahams, Chopin type only.......Sinatra.....

I played Jimi Hendrix's Star Spangled Banner for him years ago. He absolutely loved it.
He does not have use for any other single note Jimi ever played.

I grew up on Jimi, think he was pure genius. Kind of obvious.

Nothing against Jimmy - but there was Andre Segovia - and there are few that touch the Maestro and his guitar playing - just saying.

I love Jimi but we are blessed to have superb guitarists today that Jimi has more than likely influenced:
Edward Van Halen (the most innovative guitarist on the planet)
Joe Satriani
Kirk Hammett
Zakk Wylde
Steve Vai

...so many more :)

@Joy
I would add Gary Clark, Jr. to that list
Thank you Jimi !!!

And Stevie Ray Vaughn and Al Green with B B King and Eric Clapton and ZZ.
Guitars are the high art of blues and rock. Electric on the list but in earlier tiimes Bob Dylan had the sound.
