Removal Of Photographs;

Hello Everyone --
I just wanted to let all know that I will be removing my photos from this website. I have been informed, by a few individuals that my photos are really of poor quality, and not worth selling, let alone printing. I have found this to be extremely disruptive and therefore I am bowing out. Once the final $20 sale goes thru, I will be deleting my account.
I thank you all for your kindness.

7, September,
**** WOW!!!!!!!!!!! I mean WOW! ** Thanks for all of the advice and comments, ( including those that leave me scratching my head, or a bit taken aback. ). Words are powerful tools, that may be interpreted variously. I will take all of this in a positive light, and use it.

i'm not sure who is telling you what and why. and why you feel you had to announce it. but looking over some of the work i do see some blocking or less than optimal clarity, however it should print fine at say half size.

because I am embarrassed.

don't be.

the pictures need a touch of work, but just fix them. it takes a while to get into the google matrix. i'd reduce the prices by half the sizes. sell the smaller ones. the sunset above can be fixed with a softened sky. other work is a bit crunchy which should be looked after. always save it in the highest jpg (after you edit the first time). there really is no need to remove it all, just fix things that need fixing.

Don't give it up. Some have no concept of imagery except there own. I'm a fan.

Good heavens, don't leave. How beautiful is this one?

I like your artistic vision. Just remove the images that are overcooked, but then please stay and keep going!

and if you did get a sale, and the staff didn't complain, then it couldn't be all that bad.

Why would you leave...continue to grow...you have only been here a short while and have had a sale. If you do not love the process of photography I would get it...but if you do why quit?

Mark this day down on you calendar.

I am with Mike on this one too. That's twice today in the last hour!

I can see where there is work needed but forget the embarrassment thing and just go to work fixing them.

Remove the ones that can't be fixed, it that be the case but hang in there and keep plugging away. That's what it takes sometimes.

Dont be embarassed.

Dont let that stop you from making artistic decisions. Or any other decisions.

It should not rule you.

Your photography is very good. Not perfect. Dont let the perfect be the enemy of the good.

I'm no expert, but I know what I like and you have a lot of photographs I like in your gallery. My advise is don't be guided by the opinion of one person. Good Luck and hope you stay around!

Just a story. I was worried about a picture I put out and put it out for critique and wasn't surprised that several people didn't like it, but that picture has gone crazy on Flickr. I haven't sold it, true, but people are enjoying it. Art is fun. And why leave wonderful images to gather digital dust on a hard drive when you can share them with the world?

If you are truly passionate about photography and art, you won't be happy leaving. If you stay, you'll continue to view other work, be inspired, get new ideas and grow. And ... ooo .. that's such fun!!!! Hang in there!!!! Try not to worry about what someone else has said (easy to say, I know) ... but just follow Your Own vision!!!! You never know what'll happen next ... none of which will happen if you leave!!!

If I were you I wouldn't listen to the person telling you that your work is bad. Maybe they don't like the competition. I like your pictures. I think you have a good eye. Listen to the good advice you're getting above and don't give up.... I think it's a great sign that you made a sale. Proves that the person with the big mouth is wrong.

I especially like this one. Keep up the good work.

Jeremy, Your work is fine and the little glitches are nothing that can't be taken care with some post processing. As you continue to grow your work will continue to change and evolve. Someone once said that opening ones art to critique is like exposing tree roots to air. It enures a slow death. There will always be someone who doesnt like your art for one reason or another. Let it roll off your back. I, for one, like your style,

Apart from the image quality of some of the images that has been mentioned I would like to say that to get found and have more sales you do need to add a description and more key words to all your images.
Don't quit, act on the advice you have been given and prove those negative doubters wrong

when i first uploaded here, many of my images needed fixing - and i fixed them and they sold. i still have a few floating around. now that you know, fix the old, and make sure the new ones aren't processed so hard. zoom in at a 100% - does it look clear? or pretty clear? is there noise? remove it - save it at the highest compression. the image should look nice up close. don't over sharpen, the site seems to sharpen things.

if your work was bad i would have said --- ok bye. but this is actually correctable, and for the most part, easy to do, you just will be selling smaller sizes.

I think every artist on the planet feels like throwing in the towel a couple of times. I think I read that Georgia O'Keefe threw out all of her paintings one time and then was visiting a friend and there was one of her works on the wall, that apparently had been rescued from the trash.

A friend of mine was in Spoletto a few years ago...that's a South Carolina festival that runs for days and days in the heat of the summer...she came home one night after standing in the grueling heat all day and not making a sale and announced she was done with painting. The next day she came back with a pocket full of checks and cash, then went on to win First Place in one of the art categories.

Just FYI.

there is also the possibility that if people volunteered themselves to tell you about quality issues - they may be competition and see you as threat. don't post their names here, though i'd be curious personally who they were. no one ever mailed me that... because they won't really be able to find too many. usually i will never volunteer info like that, unless they type it here. and i only mention it to prevent the dreaded letter from the site. no one likes to see that. it took me a while to figure out what is good or bad since there are no strong guidelines, and they seem to change now and then.

Stop whining and grow up!!!! take the criticism and move on. Your photos look very unique and dramatic, that is your style, so what. Again, stop whining and grow up!

You should stay, Jeremy. Though I think some of your images are over saturated, you have a good eye and have very nice work throughout your portfolio. I'm with the others, fix what needs to be fixed, continue to make beautiful images, and continue to grow and have fun along the way!

Well I can understand your comment. I feel that way myself when i am in a 'down on myself' mindset and it does happen. But heck i actually like your images, and I have to add i have still not made ANY sales. In the past I have quit things after some negative comments or acts came my way. Sometimes i regretted it. But heck everybody is not going to praise your work. You have sales. I actually said I like your shots. And so did some others. There are some people who get their feelings of superiority by being negative to other people and their efforts. Basically try to ignore them. There are enough reasons listed here and support for you to make you rethink the announcement.
Anyhow just my opinion but i was motivated enough to put this together.

I agree with the other remarks in general about your work; over-saturation is sometimes a problem, but otherwise your art is fine.

But what I think would really help you is to join some groups. That way your work can get much wider exposure, especially if the group administrator features it. Some have wonderful networking discussions. Entering contests can also give you a fair amount of exposure even if you don't win. Vote in some contests, if only in ones you've haven't entered, and let those people whose work you voted for know you did.

What I really like about FAA, in contrast with other social media, is that there is not only a great variety of artistic approaches, but high quality and support for works using them. I try to learn by example from browsing the site. I notice that you have many Favorites: this is a good thing!

One thing I've learned over the years is that the market for any one style is very small, but some artists with such a small market can still do very well and even get recognition for their originality.

Perhaps I'm over-optimistic: even though I feel a lot of encouragement from other artists on this site, I've only sold one greeting card -- for $1. On the other hand, I'm sure I could get far more views with better search terms.

Finally, don't let your moods get you down. There have been many days I got more satisfaction out of doing housework than from doing art. Inspiration comes and goes!

I DONīT LIKE many of your pictures! But what does that mean? NOTHING! Iīm quite sure, you donīt like many of mine, too. Do I change my style, if you or other people - even the influencers - here donīt like my photographs? Of course not! I canīt and want to please everybody. (Thatīs why I donīt ask for critique ... 😎)

What I would listen to, are technical issues, which makes my pictures unprintable.

@David Bridburg I agree its a great place to live, lots of interesting locations to feed the eyes with. Avon is definitely stunning tho, I'm jealous lol.
